Expectations/Predictions

What are everyone's expectations for the remainder of the season? What makes this season a success going forth? I see a win in St. Louis and a bid to that new tournament. I'd be satisfied with that.

Why don't you follow this up with "Who do you expect to start this year?"

Given the preseason expectations...

Nothing short of 3 in a row in StL will satisfy me fully. 2 wins and a NIT home game and I'd be quasi-satisfied, given the extenuating circumstances of injuries.

A CBI bid would be nothing to me. Because that means in years before this one, we would've missed the postseason in a year where we were picked to go to the NCAAs and had a preseason AA candidate.

Kreskin I am not. I'm thinking only one game in St. Louis because I don't know what team is going to show up to play. (take that to mean mentally, injury, judicially) Just give me one win in St. Louis and this season will be a push for me. I hate being one and done. It makes watching the rest of the games a little less enjoyable.

I'm just curious what everyone's realistic expectations are? Collectively we've been through a lot this season. How does this team have to finish so that you'll be happy with its progress and the progress of the program?

I don't think a one-win Valley tourney is going to cut it. This team started the year with too much talent for that. We need to get to the championship and either win the thing or get an NIT bid.

The expectations were set at the beginning of the year, and those were the NCAA's. I think that tells you all you need to know.

I agree with TAS. This team needs to win at least 2 in the tourney. This team should have won at Creighton and some other games, even with the injuries. My biggest disappointment this year has been that this team has been absolutely awful defensively in too many halves of some games. Intensity has been lacking in some games also, even with all of the players healthy. That said, get to Sunday and I will be OK. I still say that this program needs to get to where it wins the conference and/or tournament on a regular basis. I am not satisfied with 1 time to the NCAA. Coach Les promised championships, and BU hasn't had 1 yet. This is not a knock on Les, it is just time to get the rest of the job done.

At the beginning of the season, my expectation was that BU would qualify for the NCAA tournament. Despite all the new players, we were assured that this team had the talent to compete for the conference championship and an NCAA bid.

My expectation now, because of how the bracket is set up, is for us to make it to the finals on Sunday afternoon. Whether we win will depand on who we draw (ISU or SIU) and how fresh the players are after two games. We will need to get production from our bench if we have any chance of winning the championship game on Sunday.

Personally, I don't think it's guaranteed we get an NIT bid, even if we make it to the finals on Sunday.

AsianSensastion said it first and that's how I feel! GO BRAVES!!!

Starting line up should be DR, JC, TW, RA, MS but with no depth with the bigs we are better off starting SM and brining RA off the bench.

Sure I want to win the MVCT.....but it will be a tough task.....right now I want whatever it takes to get another home game....I am not ready to end the season after St Louie!

I just can't see how anybody would believe the season would be a success if BU lost in St. Louis. At some point, the team has to capitalize on an opportunity.

My expectations are that we go down to STL and get three wins. But we need to win Friday before we can worry about anything else.

YES! Finally, someone who gets it!

I agree with both of you. With all the expectations that surrounded this program at the begining of the season, our final record is disappointing. I hope that this year and especially the last two games have made the guys that much more hungry to go down to STL and take care of business. We have the talent to win this weekend and starting with Friday it's time for them to step up and play their best basketball of the year.

We need to make it to the championship game and if that happens I can live with the result as we are one man short (andrew warren) which could really hurt our chances in winning 3 games in 3 days; SIU will not win it because of the lack of scoring as there are a lot of teams that will out score them on a neutral floor.

Personally, I think that there are too many good teams in this conference that would guarantee ourselves a conference championship. Having said that, we do have as good a chance as anyone to win the whole thing. However, keep in mind that while Drake and ISU don't have to win this to earn at-large bids, a hungry SIU and an Altman coached Creighton team will make things difficult. I fully expect we will get by Creighton at least so that we at least clinch some sort of postseason. But getting by Creighton, Drake AND SIU or ISU will be tough.

But if anyone can do it, I think we are most certainly capable.

Not necessarily. We still don't know if the CBI will get the first shot at picking teams even ahead of the NIT committee. But I see where you are coming from in that it does not matter which postseason tourney we would get into. We would not have a prayer for the postseason (outside of winning the Valley tourney) if these extra sixteen slots weren't available.
