It's a slow day, so here are some interesting facts regarding MVC stats this season. Note that upcoming games in the MVC tournament also count in the final stats.--

Bradley's Ryan Phillips finishes the season with the top shooting percentage in the MVC this season, 100%. Congratulations, Ryan!:D
Note that 4 of the top 6 shooting percentages are from Bradley players.

Osiris Eldrige gets the MVC gunner award. His 12.3 shot attempts per game is easily the top number--

Jeremy Crouch is the leader in 3-point shots made per game--

Theron Wilson's 3-point shooting percentage is 47.4%, which is better than the official top 3-point shooter Josh Young (45.3%) of Drake. Theron, however, is just short of the number of made shots necessary to qualify (must have made 1 per game).--

Theron is also #7 in free throws attempted per game. He lead Division I juco last season with over 300 free throws attempted.--

Bradley has 2 players (Theron Wilson and Matt Salley) in the Top 10 in rebounding. The only other team with 2 players is SIU (Shaw and Falker).--

Daniel Ruffin is #2 in assists, and Bradley has 3 among the top 15 in assists.--

And in scoring, Bradley has 2 of the top 4 and 3 among the top 10 scorers--

How are we only 9-9 in league play with all of those great numbers?

If you look at the coincidence of Chuck Buescher coming onto the scene during the Sweet 16 season and the great defense they played during his tenure then it all makes sense.

Coach Buescher was so successful due to his defense and brought that to complement Les's coaching. Without him this year................they have suffered.

Chuck Buescher needed for DEFENSE

Chuck Buescher needed for DEFENSE

The title speaks for itself. Championship teams play good defense..........especially at the end

Bradley was missing at least one starter in 13 of 18 conference games, and note this...

In conference games Bradley had the 4th best 3-pt FG defense but the BEST 3-pt FG shooting pct.

We had the most assists and steals, and were top-3 in turnover margin.

Then stats in all games are roughly the same...so those who want to call the Braves defensive failures, cannot possibly make their case with all the facts that are available.

The thing that hurt the Braves was the absence of the seniors and starters, not bad play.
Barring a couple last second shots that caused us to lose to Drake and Creighton in OT, Bradley'd be 11-7 and not far from a 2nd seed.

We can play the 'if' game all day. We are what our record says we are. No one gets credit for close calls. I just hope we can put it together this weekend to make up for what has largely been a very disappointing season.

There were those who predicted a .500 season. I think your predictions are about where I thought they would have been, but nobody could have expected all the injuries and missed games that have happened.

Without Andrew it will be difficult, but I think they can still win the MVC tournament. Probably Friday's game will be the toughest one.

When I say 'disappointing', it isn't necessarily because of the record. Yes, the record should be better by a couple of games regardless of some early injuries. But I think it's disappointing moreso because we only got a brief glimpse of what this team could really be. A freak injury and a senseless suspension really killed the serious momentum this team was building about 2-3 weeks ago.

I am almost dreading Friday's game because of how upset I will be if we're going home.
