I was amazed to see how many Shocker fans were there to support a 9th place team. They deserve props for that.
The Gregg Marshall incident...wow. The first 'T' I figured he dropped an 'F' bomb or something. But he explained in the presser that at halftime, one of the officials (I think Sanzere) told him that he asked an official a question that he wasn't allowed to ask (explain?) and that he (Marshall) wasn't allowed to 'referee' the game. There was a play where (according to Marshall) he yelled 'foul', and he was immediately T'd up. Then, when Thomasson went to the hoop trying to dunk and the ball got blocked out of bounds, Marshall was on one knee looking up at the official. He got up, turned around said nothing (according to him, I couldn't tell), and was immediately T'd again. At first he was in total disbelief, then he started to get a little angry. It looked as if he may (I emphasize 'may' because I couldn't tell) have bumped a ref trying to escort him out of the arena. Anyways, I am no Marshall fan, but I think he got an awfully quick hook tonight. WSU had every chance to win tonight, and blew it. Matt Brauer broke down in his presser, which kinda tugged at your heart considering what he went through. Beyond that, WSU just isn't a very good team. But neither is ISU Blue. DU should have no problems tomorrow.
I know we like to think we are the team 'no one wants to play', but I think it's MSU. They looked pretty darn good tonight, and arguably are playing as well as anyone in the league. Plus, they're playing for someone's livelihood. ISU Red will have their hands full tomorrow.
