Some big news--

Pledge means 17-15 Braves will play in CBI or not at all
Bradley (17-15) has signed an exclusivity commitment with the CBI agreeing BU would accept only a postseason invitation from the 16-team tournament.

The CBI signed a little different deal with other teams--

What does this statement by Kavanagh mean, "We'd love to go to the NIT, but we couldn't sign two contracts." What's up with these "contracts" I've never heard of these "loyalty pledges" (my quote)....

OK, everybody else raise your hand if as soon as you read that you said aloud, "What the hell is this?"

If the NIT is the losers tourny, then what does that make the CBI?

I see one more chance to watch JC play in a Braves uni......is it my best option....YES...it is the only option I have if the Braves do get a home game...just wondering what the turn out will be if the game is on this Wed..... I also wonder if the Braves will cover the # of fans for the $60,000 guarantee?

Illinois @ Bradley and we'll sell out. Do it.

ETA: I bet any U of Illinois contract would include language saying they would not come to Peoria. ;)

I hope we don't go to U of I either. That is the problem all these BSC schools will not play games on the road so if I was BU I would not go on the road either.

The only problem I have with this is how it affects the NIT. They have always treated Bradley great and I hope we were told we had no chance to get in before we made this move. It was always nice to know we had a history with the NIT and they would consider us.

Ruff gets to play on another senior night. I am excited about that. Wednesday is right in the middle of spring break, so I don't know how many students are going to show up. But imho any chance to make the season last a little longer is good.

Does Thompson get to play in the CBI since this technically isn't part of the NCAA or official college season?

Jason

I'm pretty sure the answer to this is no. I don't know why CBI games wouldn't be considered part of the "official college season." They are not exhibition games.

Did Bradley pay the 60K it costs to get into this tourney?

As I understand it, they have to guarantee a gate of $60,000 to the CBI, but BU would expect to make that and more, if they can sell tix for average $15 and draw 8000, then they'd easily make $120,000, plus TV revenue, etc.

He could play, but he'd forfeit the entire 2007-2008 season and get to play only one game possibly.
... and it would count as his freshman year, thus when he starts next fall, he'd be a sophomore with only 3 years remaining. Not exactly a good idea.
