CBI 1st round- Cincinnati at Bradley- 6:00 pm Wednesday

Vaughn is a blast to watch, even if you are rooting against UC. The fact that he is only a sophomore really bugs the rest of the Big East. If you remember Steve Logan, he reminds a lot of Bearcat fans of him.

This should be interesting to watch. I've seen Vaughn and he is very, very good. BU's senior guard Daniel Ruffin has struggled against really good guards and often times BU loses those games. Hopefully that isn't the case with Vaughn.

I haven't seen a line but I'm guessing something like BU by 3 or 4.

I agree... but didn't we do a white-out for the Providence game last year?

Y'ah, but that was a special event and it was declared and supported by the powers that be. I just think that it is implicit that every game should be a red out regardless. (The students still wore red for the white out, by the way).

If you want to listen to some amusing commentary from "the other side", tune into Radio 700 - WLW in Cincinnati. If you can't get them from where you live (I'm in NJ), they are one of the "Regional" stations on XM. Bottom line, they don't appear to have much respect for the CBI.....

Heh. I'm not sure I have much respect for the CBI yet. But I"ll enjoy the games because Bradley's playing.

No disrespect to Cincinnati, but their presence at 13-18 is really killing the credibility of the tournament. I think in a couple of years after the tournament has established itself they won't feel the need to include such a poor team record-wise. I am still kind of baffled though at the selection.

Bradley loses, yikes look out. How you like your Crow?

But seriously - a great opponent! There is some rich history between the 2. Much better draw for fans than say IUPUI and much better exposure for the CBI tourney than having IUPUI playing Bradley.

This game is a good game IMO.

Yeah...if we lose it sucks. It sucks big time. But can you honestly say that BU playing a 13-18 at any point in the season offers anything redeeming for the Braves? Honestly, outside of this being a tournament format, it's a lose-lose for BU. If we win, we were supposed to win because they're a bad team playing us in our home gym. If we lose, we embarrass ourselves, our conference, and diminish the credibility of the tournament even more. I don't care what the name on the uniform says, it's not a good game for either team when one of them is approaching 20 losses.

I just spent some time going over all their message boards...
both the Scout and Rivals boards are very slow, rarely used, and only a few posts per week....almost all the other Big East teams' main boards are pretty busy.
Their front pages say a dozen or two people are online presently, but those must be ghosts or just folks who set the page as their home page, because nobody is posting!

The "Bearcatnews" also only has 3-5 posts per day, and most seem not to notice they have a game coming up, as they talk more about recruiting and next year!
Of the few game-related posts, the Cincy fans seem legitimately concerned about playing at Bradley!

The Bearcat Banter also is slow but they also utilize one of the ncaabbs's
http://ncaabbs.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=404
but not much there either.
Maybe they just don't do message boards.

By the way, our board has been really buzzing.....
Over 300 people online at once on Sunday, last evening we had 200, and even at 7AM this morning, 100 people were online.

I think a huge key to this game is gonna be defensive pressure on the ball (from Ruffin) and 3 pt shooting defense. Let's face it - we aren't gonna win many rebounding battles with about anyone. So we need to get that out of our heads right now. We are gonna have to try and win this game by defending the perimeter. And then on the offensive end, we need to hit our shots. It would also help to get to the free throw line early, so we need to hit some shots early to get the defense up on us - then dribble/penetrate and draw fouls getting to the line.

I agree with bbrave and I am sure he doesn't mean it as a sign of disrespect towards Cincy. If you have a tourney and in your first year you are trying to establish cred., a losing record by one of the teams just doesn't look good. Hey they may be the best team in the field...I dunno but its just a no win first game for BU.

I do like what JL said though. Basically the season is over for these teams. Now we are all o-o and go forward from here. Its almost like a early start for next year.

We need to show Cincy that we are a much better team then our record and play like this is our last game of the season(which it will be if we lose) , Rebounding, team defense and making 3 point shots are critical for our success.
