CBI Rd1: Richmond @ Virginia

What's really going to stink is if there are a few upsets and BU ends up being the best team remaining when they re-seed. With our arena issues, the CBI has no choice but to give us a 3 at best. I doubt they would give us the home court advantage after that should we happen to win on the road.

Actually now that I look, I have ODU going to the Final Four instead of Virginia. Come on Richmond!

Looks like if Bradley wins tomorrow we will be playing Ohio in Round two, they beat Brown. Which is unfortunate, I was wondering when was the last time we played an Ivy league school.

So far the quality of games in the CBI has been much better than the NIT. The first 3 games were decided by 6 points, 3 points, and 2 points. Comparatively speaking, the NIT's first 2 games were decided by 20 and 18 points. However, Robert Morris is only losing to Syracuse by 4 at halftime. I'd love for the NIT to redeem itself with a Robert Morris upset!

The early leaders ...

Da Coach, lightsout, MDCowboy, LawDog4, BradleyBraves, MacabreMob all have three points!

bugregshu, Dubl R 1, pfunk880, aff6907, IheartBU, Braves4Life, and me all have two points!

I'll post more of an "official" update after today's games are complete!

Houston by 1! What an opening night for the CBI. 4 games decided by a total of 12 points. The organizers certainly couldn't ask for a better opening night game-wise. Let's hope the quality of the gate matches the quality of the games.

uva got by far the largest attendance at 4000 in the cbi
others were between 1400 and 3000
thats sad

In the NIT last night, Creighton drew only 7948, about a half full Qwest Center, and SIU drew 5353.
Ohio State drew 7117, Syracuse 10,536, but the rest were terrible...with even big schools like Minnesota, Az State, and Florida State drawing just 2-4,000

I would agree that the attendance probably wasn't good, but how big were their arenas? I guess if they played in cracker-jack boxes that were half full it might not seem as bad. Here was the attendance for all of the NIT games last night -

2,112 (UMass)
2,830 (Florida State)
3,882 (Minnesota)
4,358 (Arizona State)
5,353 (Southern Illinois)
7,117 (Ohio State)
7,948 (Creighton)
10,536 (Syracuse)

Attendance was poor for the NIT as well.
