This Year's Illinois Mr. Basketball

Congrats to Kevin and SIU.

But I thought UIUC always has their pick of the top players... and they didn't want/get this one?

I dunno....but is CLo going to be there if his name comes up every year as a hire for bigger and better positions?

Or does SIU's "ugly" style of play hamper Lowery's chances of getting hired elsewhere?
Are there are other mid-major coaches, anywhere in any conference, who have had Lowery's degree of success (over 100 wins/4 years, Sweet Sixteen, Top 20 rankings, etc.) who has not moved up to a better spot?
If there are, I'd like some examples, there aren't many, and you can't count Miller, and Few, as Miller hasn't been there long enough and will probably move up this year, and Few is already at a school that some consider a major.
Maybe just Larranaga & Mark Fox but even Larranaga has had some down years??

Here is the vote for this year's Illinois Mr. Basketball,
Matt Roth was 5th...........I am stumped as to why Decatur Eisenhower's Jeremy Robinson didn't even get a single vote??
Jereme Richmond also has obviously really hurt himself with recent things.

PS--- Tom Crean has only been on the job at Indiana for a couple days, and realized he has no point guard.
He immediately offers a scholarship to Champaign's Verdell Jones

It is quite strange that Robinson didn't even get a vote, especially when he pretty much dominated Stan the Man Simpson in their head to head match up earlier this year.

I just can't believe that Robinson came back from that career ending knee injury he suffered last summer.

It's hard to believe that Robinson made 2nd team All-State.

mel....I am agreeing with you, take it easy...
I strongly believe he is deserving of more consideration for Mr. Basketball...
just wondering if there's something that I am unaware of that is a reason he was left off everyone's ballot.
It can't be due to his teammate getting so many votes, as that sure didn't hurt the Marshall and Edwardsville kids this year nor the Simeon kids last year.

This snub only adds to the slight snub of Jeremy in the Pantagraph story which never mentioned him among the promising players for next year,
but it's nice to see the Panty offer a make up call today... ;)

Just as strange is that someone gave Zach Boyd of Warrensburg-Latham a first place vote. That voter must not have seen many games outside of Warrensburg, Illinois this year.
Boyd is a very good player, but I don't think many would rank him the top player in the state.

so facts = shots?

Tornado, I am not trying to attack you here, but sometimes you stretch the truth really far. Sometimes to the point where it isn't the truth anymore.

And some of your "facts" have been proven not true more times than not. I know that for a fact. I'd still like to know the refs that did the Dayton / ISU games that also did A-10 games, but that's for another tread.
You wanna know where total lack of facts are still used to slam Bradley??
Where complate falsehoods are propagated just to insult BU.... never mind, you know..

Total lies routinely propagated as if they are facts

Do you follow message boards much? Are you familar with TPGUY's work?

If you are not, let me educate you on his postings. He uses Humor, sarcasm, and satire, etc on the majority of his posts.

And yes he does slam Bradley. But he doesn't deny slamming them in the process.

...I'd still like to know the refs that did the Dayton / ISU games that also did A-10 games

what?? Just so this isn't left as if you have proven anything...

the names of the refs that did the Dayton/ISU game are Kip Kissinger, Brett Miles, Brian Shey.

As for your apparent claim that NONE has ever done an A-10 game, it took me all of 8 seconds
to find that they certainly had??
Surely you can spend your time looking it up as easily as I did, but just who exactly were the refs at this game at Rhode Island?
http://gorhody.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2007-2008/gwc08.html

Of course....it is Brian Shey...and there are others, too...
but why is it that I have the feeling that I have proven you WRONG before when you claim I am inaccurate.
Sorry, but only the facts here..not the stuff that's on the redbird board...

But I thought UIUC always has their pick of the top players... and they didn't want/get this one?

I don't recall anyone here saying that Illinois always has their pick of the top players, but anyway...

If Illinois had somehow gotten Dillard, he would have replaced one of the following players:

Alex Legion
D.J. Richardson
Brandon Paul
Joseph Bertrand
Crandall Head

Dillard is a very good player, but Illinois fans aren't too upset about the way things have worked out.

That's one of two things Eugene will turn you into:

A gun toting, get off my land, reactionary or

a dreadlocked, patchouli wearing, neo-hippie

he he he ;)

How about the irony of the players on the Oregon Ducks basketball team, shooting at ducks and geese?

I meant to post this earlier... I thought it was an early April Fools joke article or something... funny stuff
