Chicago Marshall star Ryan Hare verbals to SIU

It seems kinda strange to me that SIU, the most successful and celebrated program in the MVC would have trouble recruiting. They were picked to win the conference this year. I watched them play a half a dozen time and was amazed at how week they were. Faulker, Mullens and Shaw, nothing else. They did come around late, but not that far, lost in the tourney to MSU. The 2008 class looks good on paper but so did our 2007 class, we'll have to wait and see.

Mullins is the only guy among their better players that Lowery recruited. Falker and Shaw were recruited by Bruce Weber and Matt Painter.
Maybe Lowery sees their drop from the top of the league to 4th this year, and maybe worse next year with Falker and Shaw departing, and feels he has to land a stud class this year to keep from dropping more.

Huh?
How exactly are you concluding that SIU is having trouble recruiting? If so, I wish BU had exactly the same troubles in recruiting that SIU has...
Their 2008 class, on paper, is the best recruiting class to come into the Valley in recent memory. And it is significantly better, on paper, than our 2007 class was.
Of course the kids still have to qualify and live up to the hype, as always...but Booker, Dillard, Roundtree, Hare, and Bocot...that is an extremely impressive list of recruits...Two Rivals top 150 guys...one 4-star recruit and 4 3-star recruits. No one in the Valley can match that class.

There are a couple discussions about the possiblity SIU is bringing in all these guards because of some worries about the guards they already have.

First...Brian Mullins had a stress fracture, which can sometimes heal slowly, and it could be possible he won't be ready to go next fall, or at least there are concerns that he might redshirt like Josh Dotzler did when he was progressing slowly.

Then the only other guards who even contributed in the scoring column, Bone, Clemmons...all shot poorly which concerns Coach Lowery.
These guys may lose significant playing time to the incoming players if they can put some points on the board.

Dotzler never redshirted... Maybe you are thinking about Funk?
