Anyone else feel the earthquake?

I woke up at 4:37 because of things rattling in the bedroom. It turns out it was a 5.4 earthquake. Did anyone else feel it?

I work third shift here at Caterpillar and we definately felt it in the office. We are on the top floor and it felt like building was about to collapse. It was a bit frightening.

It woke me and my 9 yr old daughter up. She was crying and I was wondering "what the heck is going on"... Pretty crazy.....

Whoa, next thing you know, a hurricane's going to hit Peoria. Read about it on pjstar.com, sounds like no major damages. That's good.

I didn't feel it, at least not that I remember... But I used to live in Tokyo, so got pretty used to earthquakes of that size.

It is being described as the most powerful earthquake in Illinois since the 1895 New Madrid quake. I am not sure how anyone can be sure of that, since seismographs and the richter scale had not been invented yet in 1895, but somehow the experts have rated the Richter scale of all the quakes in the last couple hundred years--

I remember this one from 1968-

Ironically, today, April 18, is the 102nd anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the most devastating earthquake in American history--

It shook the floor in our house. I had just got up and was standing when it hit. As I told my wife my legs started to shake and actually I could feel it move up my legs-real strange feeling-wondered what was wrong. Wasn't awake enough yet to realize what happened. At the same time my wife said she thought we had big burst of wind as the trees were really blowing and just like that it ended also. It all makes sense when you know what happened.

Jim Les told Kirk Wessler there was NO earthquake but we are keeping our options open in case something develops...but as of now all natural disasters are out indefinetly and we are not expecting any until the end of spring classes when that could change things.

Stay tuned.....

I've felt earthquakes in the past, but I slept through this one (I live in the northern burbs of Chicago). I remember the 5.0 New Madrid earthquake from the Spring of 1987, and a 4.0 earthquake centered around Sandwich, Illinois three years ago. I felt both of those, but was sound asleep this morning for this one.

LOL! Good one! :D

I felt it, just came back in the bedroom from the bathroom laid down and the handles on our dresser started rattling and the room was shaking.

It woke me up. My initial reaction was "What in the heck is happening??" followed by "holy crap it's an earthquake!" and finally "Wow, that was really weird."

First time I've ever felt anything like it. My whole apartment building swayed back and forth.

After initial reports that Indiana's DeAndre Thomas had just fallen out of bed, I too heard the reports that it was a 5.7 earthquake.

I have heard conflicting reports...
One local TV station reported it was 5.7
another couple sources call it 5.6
These guys report it was 5.2
http://www.wkyt.com/news/headlines/17906609.html

but many are calling it 5.4

the official USGS report says 5.2

I know Da Coach lived several years in Southern California, so I suppose he has felt a few, but this is only
the third earthquake I have felt. I felt the one in 1968 right here in Peoria, and again one that rattled the walls in June of 1987 was centered in Olney. I did not feel the one a couple years ago up by Ottawa.

This morning's quake rattled and caused creaks in our walls and ceilings and woke up a couple of the kids, lasting at least 12-15 seconds before completely ending.
