So much can happen from one year to the next year as far as a players development. I chose Thompson based on one year of practice and the ability he is suppose to have. To say who just based on last year it would be SS but he is a better bench player as he brings so much to the table w/ his physical play off the bench. I hope DC continues to progress like he did at the end of the year. WE has some great upside but we will see if it comes out next year, if it does he may be the suprise member of the team or it may take another year like it did Cox at Drake. Austin has a great big body and is very strong and has had a full year to learn also. What everone learned this past season will help next year, maybe.
Overall it is so hard to predict because one never knows how hard a player is going to be willing to work in the off season.

Knowing that this poll means nothing, hell yes I'll vote anyways! And this is how I came to my vote knowing that we have just 6 months till B-Ball again and what I have seen this year.

DC Dissappointmant this year, lost most of the time he's in there at both ends. Has the height and weight but also shown he lacks heart and motivation. He can be tought and learn the game but the other has to come from with-in! Can be a big help next yr. off the bench!

WE This year didn't do much to help the kid as fare as playing time, should have been RSed. He has alot of tools, needs much help in all areas of his game. Unless RSed this year some way, he will be a sub but with a great furture in his Jr. and Sr. yrs.

RA Had some momonts this yr. late in the MV season. Will help next year off the bench! Should be playing at the 4 not the 5. With players at 7', 6'10"and two at 6'9" why would we play a 6'7" again at the 5?? I seen enough this year!!!!!!!!!!!

AT Sitting out this yr. could only have helped this kid. Alot of people are putting the monkey on this kids back as being the savior for next yr. He has gained some much needed weight and muscle but needs so much more. At 6'10" and only 195-200lbs can get you hurt a Div.1. They say he can run the court the best of all the bigs. I think for that reason and the weight issue AT should play at the 4 next yr for the most part. We have other on the team that can do the banging!

SS Was the most consisted big off the bench this yr. He showed good ball when JL would play him. Should of played more this yr. He is a big body in the middle that puts a body on people and can move people out of the paint. He also sets big time screen's that opens the 3 for our guards. He can also shoot FT's and moves to the hoop better than any of the bigs that we played this yr. He has shown he is a team player, ready and motivated to play. He is a smart player and knows the game. He will be a leader that this team needs on and off the court next yr. By playing AT at the 4, SS and DC at the 5, there should be NO one we can't match up to down under and still run the court the way JL likes. Oh, if you are wondering if I forgot TW he is at the 3, AW at the 2 and SM at the 1. ITS SAM'S TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sam is the man......he has the most experience and will be a vocal leader for this team next season....I do think RA will be a force too.....

I hope you are correct, but I think the 2 young guys need to make significant improvements for BU to finish in the top 4.

I don't think there's much point to this poll, but I'll vote anyways.

The point was to see if a player that has never played would be projected higher than the four players they have played and haven't shined.

This is the kinda poll you woulda seen on the other board in years past. Somewhat of a bait and trap... then almost a slam on how people voted. As in this poll... it can be considered a joke (to an Illini fan, for example) to think a guy that has never played is considered the best.

No wonder that board died.

Thanks for the insult, MM.

It's not a slam on how people voted - it's a slam on the inside game of Bradley. There was only one productive guy on the inside this year and he is graduating. The frustrating part is that there have been some really good perimeter players the past few years.

One other thing, I also started this thread to feel better about why Bradley didn't get any new big guys. Four new guards and no new big men is a concern of mine after seeing the results the last two years. I assumed that people on here would give some positive opinions about the past weakness.

I think the redshirt freshmen has a shot to be the best one next year. Going from the last decade of BU hoops, some of the best years from the center position have been from freshmen (O'Bryant and Granger). The center position, like most college basketball teams, has been a weak link. Maybe I missed it, but I thought there would be a reference to Jeff Rabey concerning Austin or Collins since he did nothing his first year as a juco transfer and ended up having a fine senior year on a surprising team.

Boogie, what would my buddy Ron Ferguson say about this?!?

Inside jokes aside, I would also liken these poll results to Bears fans, where the backup QB is always everybody's favorite player. Remember when the fans were calling for Craig Krenzel to start a few years back?? If you polled the Bears fans and asked them who their top WR should be, I would bet an overwhelming majority would pick Earl Bennett even though he's never played a game. I also would bet they'd pick Matt Forte as their top RB, even though he's never played a game.

People love a player who's never played because that player represents untapped potential. Look at the Tom Brady's and Gilbert Arenas' of the world who were late round picks who turned into great players. Everyone wants to find the diamond in the rough badly enough that we actually believe it will happen before the player even has a chance to prove themself.

Being that I wrote the poll question (and spelled one name wrong) and you related it to a question that would have been on the board that you were bashing, I took it as an insult. No harm.

The Ron Ferguson reference made me laugh. I agree that the backup qb theory could apply here.

Actually, I really like SS coming of the bench for 15-20 minutes. As stated earlier he is the smartest post player, sets great screens, and is probably the most physical. He should get a good amount of minutes next year. He is a senior after all.

Are you including AT in these 3? What is the possibility that by the end of the season that AT and WE are capable 4s?

If SS is our best post player we have big problems.

No one said he would be the best but right now he is the most experenced and most consistent post player we have. He also brings teamwork, work ethic, system knowledge and leadership which I haven't seen from any of the other's! He should be a captain and starter based on all of above and what I said earlier in this thread about AT at the 4. He's not going to be a star and how much time he plays would depend. One thing for sure is he will be a team leader both on and off the court! Something we didn't have this last year!

Yeh that is what I was thinking when I stated SS was the guy....I agree with you...he will be a leader......a team with two Sam's leading....there has got to be some marketing thing for that....:)

The hard work over the summer will determine who is going to be our post starter; if our inside players are willing to work as hard as JC did to improve themselves then we will have a very good team as I believe we have plenty of outstanding guards and our season will be determined by how good our inside players help this team .
