OLD THREAD: Starting five...with updated comments

This may not be our starting five but who could match up with this size and athleticism.
5) 7'0" Collins
4) 6'10" Thompson
3) 6'5" Wilson
2) 6'5" Warren
1) 6'3" Dunson

That is a line up we may see. We could be a tough match-up for anybody in the MVC. Heck, that will be tough match-up for anybody on our schedule. Very exciting!

The problem with this lineup is defense and rebounding! If AT can play D and rebound I love it but he's a bit skinny and unproven at this point.

The problem with that lineup could also be ball-control/ball-handling/assists-to-turnovers-ratio.... KW would have a field day with those stats.

Here is my prediction:

1: Sam Maniscalco
2: Andrew Warren
3: Theron Wilson
4: Rashad Austin
5: David Collins

If Anthony Thompson really lives up to his hype, though, expect Jim Les to replace Austin with Thompson by the time conference play starts (and possibly put him in the 5 position if he gains enough muscle, though I think he will be a 4 for the most part this year).

We havn't seen Roberts play either, but he might have something to say about people playing in front of him. Also DD has a history of travel. Sam is the man and will end his 4 yrs. as one of the best point guards to play at BU!! Take it to the BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It is always amazing to me that someone will come on to a Bradley Fan board look at the tital of the thread "STARTING fIVE" click on it to read it and then call it meaning less....here a thought, dont click on the post and dont read it!!! This is a Bradley fan board, the season is over, recruiting is over, there isnt much to talk about. If I want to ask other fans what they think the starting five will be next year to just start a conversation about Bradley so that at least I am talking about Bradley basketball so be it. Meaningless is the time you took to read it when you think its meaningless........

Meaning less, only that nomatter what we all discuss on this thead will mean nothing as to what determine's as the starting five, only the players and JL will do that! That was all that was meant by that. I'm sorry if you took it as a native statement. God knows I enjoy and will take time to talk BU basketball when ever and with whom ever. I enjoyed your thead and all the theads and will keep reading them and quote when I feel like I have something to add. As I did here! I apologize if I did something wrong or hurt your feeling!

It's fun to sepeculate when your favorite team is BRADLEY. I like these kinds of threads. Keep them coming over the Summer! Much better than who's the worst at this or the worst at that and what kid at some school is getting in trouble:)

If you like Jim Rome or not, i think what he says about this is valid
"I will stop talking about people doing stupid things when people STOP DOING STUPID THINGS!"

But I think everyone here would rather talk about BU basketball

2 certainties:

Taxes were due on April 14th

Warren, Wilson and SM will start next season.

Warren is possible player of year candidate

Wilson is a possible NBA player :)

JL sees himself in SM, SM is his boy and will start possibly for every healthy game for the next 3 years.

The next 2 spots could be anything from another guard.. DD, Roberts, EM or it could be Thompson or Egolf.

last spot is whoever makes a huge stride this summer and dedicates himself to Bradley Basketball... Im talking about Austin or Collins.

But it does not matter who starts as we know, it matters who finishes games and contributes for an entire 40 minutes. The possiblities for next season are so numberous its really exciting.

I just hope we are at least .500

I agee with all execpt Wilson a possible NBA player.

I guess we will have to wait and see. You are not going to dash my dreams for the kid or his dreams, why would you say that about one of our players. I'm not looking for an answer, that's why there was no question mark.

I really wrote that about Wilson with the :) because of the "heated" thread awhile back about whether or not he or anyone in the MVC is an NBA type of player.

I think he is incredibily talented and if he can play what I think is a more natural 3 this coming year and has to do less of the work on the boards and can get out more in transition we will see even more of his talent.

I think he will get paid to play the game eventually, probably not in the NBA but who knows.

I'm not trying to dash anyone's dreams...I'm just being realistic that's all. He might play overseas. If Cellus isn't in the NBA(maybe later we'll see) why would you think TW would?

I dragged up this old thread to see where we are now compared to where people thought we'd be last spring.
For the most part I don't think we're too far from what everyone expected at this point.

We are 3-2, and the starting five has included Dunson, Wilson, Roberts, and Maniscalco in all games (except one start missed by SM due to injury).
Will, Eddren, & DC have split the other starts 2:1:3.

Here are the minutes played thus far per player - all players appearing in all five games except where noted:

Dodie Dunson 32.6
Sam Maniscalco 30.8
Theron Wilson 30.0
Chris Roberts 27.2
Sam Singh 19.2
Eddren McCain 18.0
Will Egolf 12.3 (4 games)
David Collins 12.0 (4 games)
Taylor Brown 11.2
Darian Norris 11.0
Anthony Thompson 1.5 (2 games)

Here are a couple other old threads looking ahead..
