David Collins to try out for Canadian National Team

One of their Development Team's players just got a tryout with the Raptors!
Maybe if DC plays well, it'll springboard him to some NBA tryouts, or possibly a shot
at a spot on their Olympic Team should a spot open up!

DC is no where NEAR ready or good enough for any NBA action or even consideration IMO but the fact that he gets to practice and develop his game is good for the up coming year at BU.

After that who knows....

I really see him winning the most improved this year and really helping BU.

Three words; aggression, passion, emotion. If that comes to fruition DC will be a monster. But...

Agreed with both. On the three words, not sure they are teachable!

Speaking of past 7-footers, does anyone know what James Baptist and Keith Barry are up to these days.

I think DC may set the record for most talked about third string center in Bradley history.

Keith who?

Keith Barry was a 7-foot, third string center, from Chicago on the 86 (I think it was 86) NCAA team with Mike Williams, Jimmy Les, and Hersey Hawkins.

He gets the award for player David Collins most reminds me of. He looked the part but just wasn't a basketball player. Ran the floor, seemed athletic, but just couldn't do much unless we were playing a weak sister team.

DC had a rough year, no doubt. Calling him "useless" is a tad harsh IMO. Had he not shown us anything I could see your point but DC showed, on a few occasions, granted WAY to few, that he has SOME skills and can be a contributor.

DC's confidence was rocked...he admitted as much after last year. He showed a few more good moments during the CBI. HOPEFULLY with a summer of hard work he can capture some of his good moments again a bit more often.

I don't think he'll be a 20 and 10 guy for us but if he can give us 24 minutes 6-8 points as many rebounds and a block per game I'd be happy.

I think of Jeff Rabey to remain positive....you can think of those others to stay negative.

I'm a DC critic Garland but can't agree with your statement of "useless" or "third string". I think DC has the potential to give the team quality minutes in key situations or with specific match-ups.

Calling a college kid "useless" is a little harsh and thoughtless, IMO.

This is basically what I was thinking. Hopefully something clicks for Collins like it did for Rabey. There was a glimpse of it in the CBI. Bradley just needs some type of presence in the paint on defense.

As I have posted before never count a player out until he has proved he is out. I still go back to JC after his soph season when so many thought he should just transfer as he was never going to be a contributer to the program and guess what? 2 years later he is 1st team all MVC and gets a workout w/ an NBA team and will be playing overseas. I may be wrong but I would expect to see a big difference in the play of several of our guys from last year. Will that play increase or decrease will have to be seen-it all depends how hard they have to work. For most of them, if they follow the JC method which was I have something to prove and am going to work harder the ever, it should be a big improvement over last year.
ONLY TIME WILL TELL!

I agree that you should never count someone out. As people, thank God, he didn't make us all the same. DC will be DC, from what I have heard all the players and coachs say he is a great guy. SS had nothing but good to say about him, of course who doesn't Sam support and say good things about. Just because he is 7', doesn't mend the guy will ever be a great player and want to play BB the rest of his life. He may have far more bigger aspirtions than that. If so I hope he does them! He may not follow the work method of JC, not meny are willing to. All I think we can ask from the guy, is to try to improve his game to help the team and give 100% effort. I'm sure we will see that from him.
