For the NBA fans, I didn't see this posted anywhere
The Seattle Sonics are rumored to be headed to Oklahoma City.

The NBA has filed for trademarks on six nicknames for Oklahoma City's new franchise, The Oklahoman newspaper reported on Friday.

According to the United States Trademark and Patent Office, the league filed for a trademark on Barons, Bison, Energy, Marshalls, Thunder and Wind.

How about the Thieves? Energy and Wind seem a little out there for NBA team names.

One of the TV stations in OKC reported last week the team would be named Thunder. I'm partial to Oklahoma City Outlaws.

Singular noun nicknames are a joke.

Thunder sounds like an areana football or lacross franchise.

I agree. Isn't that why the Washington Bullets changed their nickname to the Wizards? They wanted to separate themselves from the thug/gangster imagery. It seems to me Outlaws would have the same problems.
