The review 10 MVC players to watch, and it includes 2 from Bradley--

A couple gripes I would have with their selections-
#10 is Anthony Booker of SIU. Though he is the top rated freshman recruit, he hasn't proven he will even play much, yet. I would pick between a couple of impressive players like Creighton's Woodfox or Witter, or Chamberlain Oguchi of ISU, who have proven something at the D1 level already.
And #2- Jonathan Cox. I don't have a problem with including Cox in their 10 to watch, but to put him #2, and say they thought about ranking him #1 is a stretch. Apparently, the writer may have only seen Drake once, in their NCAA game when Cox had "the game of his life". I can think of several MVC players who belong above Cox on this list, and one of them is Drake's Josh Young, who is listed behind Cox. I expect Cox to have a good year, and get his rebounds, but will bet his scoring goes down without Emmenecker.

And one more gripe--
As usual, in his desription of Theron Wilson, the writer can't resist mentioning the 1 game suspension he had for "illegal consumption by a minor".
Yet here is his article about the 10 players to watch in the ACC--

Note that #4 in that list is Ty Lawson, point guard for North Carolina. But the writer manages to avoid mentioning that the reason Ty Lawson pulled out of the NBA draft was related to his similar arrest for underage drinking and driving that he got back on June 6th.

Warren. Season to remember. Book it!

Eldridge = MVP. But he won't have as much help.

Hope you're right. Warren arguably could have made the difference between a BU NIT/NCAA appearance and their eventual destination of the CBI. I don't think it's a stretch to say that we beat SIU in Peoria (even without Ruffin) and Creighton in Omaha and St. Louis with a healthy Warren. But, that's in the past. I don't think there's much dispute that Andrew Warren will be one of the top players this year in the MVC.

I have to agree with you on this. Warren is a great player and I expect him to have 2 great years ahead of him.

I know Lawson might say that and the Tar Heel faithful might want to believe it, but the real reason Lawson pulled out of the draft was that he just WAS NOT very impressive in the pre-draft games and tryouts. Ultimately, he decided it was better to go back to school for another year where he can come out and potentially be the #1 point guard chosen in the draft (and a probable Lottery pick). Staying in the draft would have cost him A LOT of money!

And #2- Jonathan Cox....I expect Cox to have a good year, and get his rebounds, but will bet his scoring goes down without Emmenecker.

I'd be willing to take that bet....for the most part, Drake fans don't see the departure of Emmenecker as being a huge obstacle to overcome.

I'm pretty sure this list isn't his listing of the best players by conference, but is his thoughts on who would be the most valuable in a fantasy league.

I thought the guy did a decent job...much better than the USUAL hack jobs some do when trying to talk about a conference they don't really follow but the editor says "do a piece on _______".

He DID mention Booker hadn't played a game against D1 but IF he is indeed the top incoming freshman I think you HAVE to include him. Recall this is Top players to WATCH...not a simple Top 10 players....HUGE difference IMO.

With that in mind (top players to WATCH) after Cox's game in the NCAA I think he indeed is deserving of his spot and AGAIN the writer says that he might be putting to much stock in his NCAA performance but still he warrants a top player to watch mention. I would have switched him with Warren, Wilson or Mullens but really no big deal. All three have proven it for the entire season but AGAIN...based on his terrific NCAA game he indeed is a player to watch.

Again....read the list in the context of what he is writing about and its a good job IMO. He's NOT saying #2 is better then 3,4,5.......10 just that hes potentially going to have a good/great year.

Exactly......in fact i think its even less about a fantasy league and just more about the potential of having huge impact in the league. I DID see the fantasy mention and it kind of threw me. I think he's just using it as a reference point since its something so many can relate to.

Addendum to above post.....:) then I look at the title of article and INDEED its "proFANTASYsports". So yes.....if you were drafting a MVC fantasy league would you take the POTENTIAL of a Cox over the proven predicatability over a Mullens or a Warren? After reading this again he indeed talks about how many times a player has gone for 20+ points.......in THAT regard (fantasy#s) he did a great job.

Sometimes writing do make small mistakes. In regards to Booker, it could have been that he lead them to a state championship as a junior.

(By the way, it's hard to believe that McCluer had at least THREE TOP D-I players
on their roster (Booker, Roundtree, John) and still lost to a team that doesn't have any D-I recruits!)

Even this statement above has a small mistake in it is.

Drew Hanlen, Webster Groves all everything guard is going to Belmont to continue his basketball career.

Got to agree w/ you bert. From what I have heard about AW and how he has bulked up and improved his game this summer I would expect REAL BIG numbers this year. I don't say this to put pressure on the young man but I have said ever since he has been at BU how he reminds me of another BU alum so effectionately known as AP around these parts (I am not the only one that has said that). From a couple of things I have heard about AW he may even remind us more of AP being able to score from inside and outside this year and completely take over games.
I would be more surprised if his numbers don't go up then if they do go up and that may be considerably.
He may just challenge OE for POY

I want to wait and see about AW's numbers increasing. He was a great 3rd option last year behind Ruff and JC, but I just don't know if he has the mentality to be the number 1 guy all the time. He won't be able to get those corner shots that he loves so much.. as much. But luckily he has guys like TW and SM to help shoulder the load. Hopefully a dominant big as well!

Welcome to the board. You certainly have the right to think whatever you want, but I hope you repost this after the season. While I have question marks aout some aspects of next years team (as every team has) in my mind AW is a lock to be out #1 or 2 guy, and I think will be among the top of the valley. I don't think you can pick a tandem in the valley that is clearly better than Warren and Wilson. If AW is what I say he will befeel free to give me crow to eat by the barrel.
