Braves 08-09 roster page....

Some of the new guys were getting pictures taken outside today. I wouldn't think that those pictures would be up on the roster page though.

last couple of years the players were in suits....I would think the pics and Bio's are already down...they should be working on the press guide...right? Also remeber people wondering about CR's weight...on the page he is listed at 202....he looked big at the Tail-gate last year!

Everyone fudges the height...wonder if we are fudging the weights. Wait...would we fudge UP or DOWN.

Mmmmmm.....just talking about fudge makes me heavier.:)

BU......

Fatter......slower.......vertically challenged.

We are DOOOOOOMED.

I arbitrarily counted the number of scholarship players who are at or over 198 lb.
(because that's about what I weigh and I'm pretty healthy!)
and it is pretty likely that if the kid is going to play college ball much under that weight, he's going to know it.
---as listed on each of the separate Valley team sites.

All the Valley sites have their updated rosters and I am going by what they have listed.

# of scholarship players at or over 198 lb.
BU-10
CU-5
DU-6
UE-5
ISU-6
InSU-4
MSU-7
UNI-8
SIU-6
WSU-8

I like this...even more evidence that BU is definitely going bigger.......

T...on the list I see 11 that are at or over 198 lbs

and AT at 211...compared to last year that's fantastic

I think weight is important to look at because I believe strength and conditioning are important. Muscle weighs more than fat.

Thanks BigMike (and T) for bringing it to everyone's attention.

Here's a change that caught my eye, Sam Maniscalco is listed at 176 pounds, down from 185 last season. Maybe an attempt to get quicker??

Nice catch. Personally, sometimes I think a guy can be 'too strong' or 'too muscular', which then causes him to lose flexibility, quickness, and touch. If Sam focused more this summer on quickness and endurance, I could see him perhaps transforming himself a bit more into a 'basketball player' build as opposed to the 'middle linebacker' physique he was sporting last year. It's not a bad thing, and I guarantee he's still one of the strongest guards around.

I think this must reflect either last year or this year's number is inaccurate, as I don't think Sam has lost weight.
he did cut his hair really short...
I will try to confirm...

Everything I heard is that he is actually stronger... which is great, but if he gained step off the dribble I'd be ecstatic. I don't hide my thoughts that Sam will leave a BU Great, but if gets a little quicker... WOAH, watch out...

I really felt the only area that SM struggled last year was defensively. If he can gain his quickness guarding the opposing point rather than passing that job off to one of the wings, we will have a much better team.

BB has mentioned being "sound" defensively. Well, that begins and ends with pressure out front and then getting that rebound to close out the possetion. If AW, DD, CR, and TW are able to play on the wings rather than guard the opposing point, I think we will be a good rebounding team.
