Candace Parker won the Rookie of the Year in the WNBA unanimously.
Parker led the rookies in scoring (18.5 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg), blocks (2.3 bpg) and minutes (33.6 mpg). She received all 45 votes from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters in results announced on Friday.--

And yesterday she was named MVP of the WNBA, too.--

What's new? She won a gold medal this summer, was named College Player of the Year last spring, lead Tennessee to a national championship, was the high school player of the year, and was Ms. Basketball in Illinois twice.

And, of course, Candace's jersey is the most popular--

The only thing that saddens me in all this.... she is so good... was so good in college... she'd be enjoying this success even if she went to Bradley. Now, maybe she wouldn't have won an NCAA Title (or maybe she woulda - never know what a player like her might have brought in to play with her).... but she would have still made it to the WNBA, played on the Olympic Team, etc.... and Bradley was not an option?

And then to think how AP has not returned to Bradley?

What's up?

That's just too bad IMO.

But hey - great for Candace. Great player and I am happy for her.

No idea if Anthony Parker has returned to Bradley for a visit, but I do remember he contributed interview time to the DVD accompanying the book Victory, Honor, and Glory. Also, was it said on this board that he may have helped David Collins get on the practice squad for the Canadian national basketball team?

So, I don't think he's forgotten Bradley. Just has other things going on.

Anthony has had discussions with the Bradley athletic department. He will eventually have his number retired by Bradley, but it will have to wait until he is no longer playing pro basketball, and that may be a few more years.

Here is an article about Anthony. Raptor's coach, Sam Mitchell isn't guaranteeing him a starting position, despite the fact that he was their only starter who started every game for them last year. He was very consistent, and their best defensive player, which isn't one of Jason Kopono's strong points. So I would be surprised if AP isn't a starter again this year.
