He has been deemed ineligible by the NCAA - no word whether he will stay in school or transfer elsewhere, or to juco.

some talk on the UT boards suggest he never did have a passing test score but that Pearl took him confidently thinking the kid would still get a passing score or get the NCAA to clear the kid with the scores as they are by appealing...
and that the Clearinghouse would pass the kid. Sounds like a mistake on both the coach's part and the kid's.
Now he owes back tuition (out of state tuition) for half a semester, and cannot receive any scholarship aid this entire year.

I cannot find a single example of a kid who was cleared then "UN-cleared" by NCAA...in other words.....the kid must have NEVER received clearance in the first place....not the hokey story that the NCAA reversed itself..because apparently that is simply an impossibility.
So if the kid never had a passing score and was never cleared by the NCAA, then it is really a colossal mistake to have given the kid a scholarship and enrolled him. It will cost UT a scholarship spot on their roster this year and will cost West a year of his college life without ever playing, and the possibility he may never get that year back.

If he remains enrolled he can recieve a scholarship but cannot play for a year and will lose the year. At best he can leave either now or after the semester and lose 1/2 a year. TN just lost a place for a scholarship player this year. So sad!

Sounds fairly close to Daniel's situation here w/ the test challenge and all...

Too bad for the kid is what I would normally say, but then again who is to say that he really is there to further his academics at all...

Daniel certainly grew into an academically sound young man and even took graduate courses if my memory serves correctly...

YET, there are still players from Memphis receiving automobiles and etc. and the NCAA does nothing about this...

Sorry to turn the thread, but its pretty upsetting to see who they single out and who they turn the other cheek on...

Reminds me of the movie Blue Chips if any have seen it...
