Bradley Wins 67-61!!!

I am not surprised that there were a lot of fouls called. Officials usually do this early in the season due to points of emphasis. It usually calms down as the season goes on. DC needs to stop moving on the screens as they are a point of emphasis this year.

AW was still feeling some pain in his foot the other day and the staff is not taking any chances. These injuries though healed can hurt for awhile.

On WE, I expect that we will not see much of him early on as well as AT. I think you pretty much saw our rotation and with AW coming back I expect that the chances of seeing WE coming off the bench is even less.

When would have you put him in and better yet who would have he replaced?

I'm not saying I would. I just remember all the glowing reports on WE's progress during the summer.

Somebody please teach DC how to screen.

Regarding fouls, the zebras came ever so close to calling a T on Chris Robert's tip dunk. That would have been *&(*&(**&$%^

You are absolutely right.

What makes me chuckle, though, is Moving Screens have been a Point of Emphasis for I don't know how long.

At least hand-checking has seemed to die down a little.

I think the refs may have called a delay of game warning after the Chris Roberts dunk because one of the Braves tapped the ball away.

Here is an interesting tidbit--
2 NBA scouts sat next to us in section 12. One was scouting for the Chicago Bulls, and the other was reluctant to say who he was scouting for. And they also didn't want to say which players they were looking at.
I suspect they were looking at Vandemeer and Mayo, since they were the only seniors with a longshot at the NBA.
Incidentally, the second scout was Joey Meyer, the former DePaul coach!

That was a nice win for the Braves, and even better because I got to go and wasn't expecting to. :)

A few things that stuck out in my mind:

- The rebounding was much better tonight that I can remember it being all of last year. The way TW was pulling them in tonight I wouldn't be suprised if he grabs 8+ per game this season.

- I was a little disappointed when I saw that Sammy had 4 turnovers to only 1 assist, but I can't really complain since we won.

- Our 3-point shooting wasn't particularly good, but I get the feeling that when AW returns, he'lll help improve that with his good shooting and will also draw away some defensive pressure from the other guys and help them get better looks. So, I'm not too worried about that.

- Dodie certainly wasn't afraid to go inside and draw fouls. I hope he keeps that up!

- There wasn't anyone who did something so silly that he made me scream "what the hell are you doing," so that's always a good sign ;)

How about the game Sam Singh played!:D Only 2 points but 1 steal, 1 block shot, 7 rebounds (3 Off) and 22 mins. BU was behind by 5 early in the 2nd half when he came in and he played the rest of the way. The team moved the ball a lot better once he was in there. As JL said the guards started looking for his screens more and his ball movement. Good pass's and no turn overs. His phyical play was shown all over the floor, knocking balls out, diving for balls and cutting off the lane. But besides the 1 real good looking shot Vandermeer made (which JL said Sam played it right) early in the 2nd half, he had 1 point rest of the game. Sam had him pushed so far back out of the paint he had no shot.. Just a great game by him.:D:D:D

Very well said OOB.

Great game for #54!

Guy next to me and I talked about how SS basically took V-meer out of the picture down the stretch when DC left with foul trouble.

GREAT D SAM!!!

I don't know what JL said at the half but it was a tale of 2 teams....I'll take the 2nd half team anytime! How about EM....he seems as quick or quicker than DR to me already! TB shows promise...CR is getting a good feel for the game and SS showed up as a man in the middle! Bad night for SM...is looking better at the 2 for me...DD gave us the win with the 21 pts and great D on Mayo! Sure like winning more than a big L....after the 1st half I didn't think we had a chance!

I have an idea what JL said at the half....Stop shooting the dang 3's, use your quickness to drive to the hoop. Sure looked like it worked LOL.

Not to much else to add other than I think we have an idea for a team mascot. A red and white energizer bunny LOL. This team seems about 5 times quicker than last yrs team and they don't slow down towards the end of the halves. Extreme speed to the hoop leading to multiple fouls. Free throw shooting was 75% better which is a good thing as it appears the FT line is going to be a hot spot this season. Florida game, I want to see DC more involved. Get the guards some practice at dumping the ball down to him. Looked like they tried to tonight but just couldn't get that extra pass down low. I think Warren will help the perimeter shooting and overall game but the team stepped up tonight without him and good teams do that. Not sure what will happen against Florida as they played a cupcake tonight but I think it will be a close game.

Couple negatives, I don't think it was even close to 10,000+ fans tonight. I counted at least 25-40 open lower bowl seats on my end cap around section 20. Plus a majority of the upper bowl end caps were empty. Definitely not as crowded as some of last seasons 10,000+ attendance games. Also, gotta change that introduction video, ZZZZZzzzzzz borrrinngggg, then the music doesn't start until the last 2 players are introduced. Just very out of wack and ruins the whole introduction atmosphere for me.

Glat to hear on the post game show that Coach Les indicated that he should have called a time out up when up 10 before the UIC run. It could have gotten away from us really easily. I think Les is growing from a coaching perpective and needs to make less mistakes too

You can't call time every time sam gets beat, you just can't let him play crunch time

Why is it that when BU is in meltdown mode, we can get 4 pages worth of replies in 4.5 hours but when BU gets a good win, we can barely muster 2 pages of replies in 3 hours? LOL

Nice win to start the season; Sam Singh played great tonight and was one of the reasons why we won , Chris Roberts had a great 2nd half as did Theron Wilson, Dodie Dunson was outstanding both offensively and defensively as he shut Mayo down, most of Mayo"s points came when Dunson was on the bench.
Concerns; Collins can make shots but does not play good defense and continues to make the same mistakes as far as moving screens and other fouls , he also needs to be a lot more agressive, McCain does a good job of handling the ball but does not appear to be much of a shooter(his freethrows have been ugly) a healthy Warren will help our 3 point shooting as it has been bad so far.
Taylor Brown really got after it tonight and does not play like a typical freshman, I would like to see him play some 3 with Theron and Singh all in at the same time.

two players I was most impressed by:

1) Dodie Dunson.....didn't know he had that kind of offense in him, and shut down Mayo...that's a very very good sign

2) the EDGE!...quick as lightening...noticed a few no look passes that were impressive and seemed to be able to dance and drive his way into the lane no matter how many people were there..and then he'd dish it out to the top of the 3...and then others would drive also because of it...it really opened things up and made our offense SO MUCH SMOOTHER...during that 5 to 10 minute frame our offense was FUN to watch

little disappointed in collins considering he played against a division 1 big man and didn't produce very well...but it wasn't terrible

Is anyone else concerned w/ our lack of assists?
TW lead the team w/ 3?
that doesn't seem very "bradley"

It seemed like the team was running their own game
very individualistic
very little cohesiveness

felt like Doddie had an amazing game. His presence really turned around some of the guard play from the first half. He also led the team in minutes...which seems odd for a "first time brave"

Chris Roberts came through HUGE in the second half. We were talking in the Student section that he will probably fill in like Theron did last year and provide a huge scoring presence w/ multiple weapons.

I also felt that people were very out of place. Theron should be at the 3...but he was playing the 4 almost all of the game. I don't thnk that's his best spot to be in.

Also, Singh...amazing...if we get that from him throughout...he will have a very satisfying senior year
