Some followup on a couple of our recent local, Peoria area kids who are playing at nearby colleges...

--Delavan's Jordan Zimmer is the leading freshman scorer at Illinois Wesleyan, at 8 ppg
Meridian's Travis Rosenkranz, sophomore, is the 2nd leading scoer at IWU at 12.3 ppg, and Washington's Sean Johnson (soph - Matt Roth's teammate) is the 3rd leading scorer at 12.0 ppg.
Morton's Dex Walker has not played yet, possibly redshirting?

--at Elmhurst, where Midwest Central's Ryan Knuppel is their all time leading scorer, another Midwest Central kid is lighting it up.
Ryan Burks is averaging 20.6 ppg!
also - Morton's Matt Bernier is averaging 5.5 mpg, 1.0 ppg.

--at Olivet (Burbonnais) Washington's Tyler Wallenfang (junior) is leading their scoring with 17.5 ppg. Washington teammate kris Irish is averaging 7.9 ppg.

--at Monmouth East Peoria's Zach Ott is scoring 7.2 ppg, Havana's Fletcher Morgan 2.3 ppg, Hart-Em's Scott Ubbenga 9.0 ppg.

--at Millikin, Roanoke's Tyler Rasmussen has not played yet and appears to be redshirting.

--at Parkland, Peoria's Nate Harrmann is averaging 8 ppg
at ICC Tremont's Jimmy Kuban averages 9 ppg

--at Furman, Justin Dehm does not start but is their 3rd leading scorer
at 8.6 ppg (and for those word police that seem to scour every post in order to make an arrest, I know Furman is not a local college, but I threw it in there anyway.)

--at Ilinois-Springfield, they are off to a 7-0 start, Ryan Thornton is averaging 1.4 ppg
Central's Jacob Motteler 14.7 ppg, Olympia's Dane Litwiller 2.6 pgg.

--Shang Ping averages 7.5 ppg for Emporia
Josh Edmonds averages 11.7 ppg for Quincy

Platteville is also undefeated at 6-0
Lewis is 4-1...Bloomington's Lonnie Lawrence 7.2 ppg.

TJ Marion, an ex-BU recruit had perhaps his best all around game yet for Eastern Illinois.
He had 12 points, 6 rebs, 4 assists, and a steal and helped EIU beat Tennessee State 71-61.
He now has 27 in his past two games.
Another ex-BU recruit, Romain Martin from Minneapolis had an off night but he is averaging 17 ppg for EIU.

--at Furman, Justin Dehm does not start but is their 3rd leading scorer
at 8.6 ppg ....

I found that local product Justin Dehm - who played on those good Richwoods teams along with Jamar Smith & Billy Cole...stayed on at Furman for a couple years as Director of Basketball Operations...but has now lost his position because head coach Jeff Jackson has been let go

--Shang Ping averages 7.5 ppg for Emporia....

not trying to pile on or anything - but ex-ICC Cougar Shang Ping finished at Emporia and is now playing professionally in China...
but his play has definitely impressed at one least writer who covers all the action in the Chinese Basketball Association...

"worst-hands-in-the-league Shang Ping
lowers the team’s ability to catch the ball just by association."

..he also shoots just 18% from the floor and 17% from the FT line
http://basketball.asia-basket.com/player/Shang_Ping/Qingdao_Double_Star_Eagles/102190

and to think there were some who thought BU missed out on him...
Ping as you may recall was part of the ICC team that some on another message board actually
(I should say comically) argued would have beaten BU's starters -and that turned out to be the year we went to the Sweet 16!

I recall some people ripping Bradley for not pursuing this kid harder. But unfortunately, he has never done anything to suggest he was ever had D1 ability.

ex-ICC Cougar - Shang Ping has left China and will sign with one of the top Greek pro teams!!

This article even has a photo of his contract - http://www.talkbasket.net/7928-shang-ping-agreed-terms-with-panathinaikos.html

Shang Ping's first comment at his Lithuanian press conference...

"It's an honor to have signed with the most succesful basketball team in Europe, Panathinaikos. They gave me this scarf as a welcome gift with the team logo. The six stars represent the six European titles that have won with this group. I'm excited to see them up close in Greece and also to be able to play with this legendary group"
