SIU loses Again

SIU loses to Nevada 62-48, they have now lost 5 of their last 6. Nevada came in at 4-4, and this loss sends SIU to 3-5 but only 2-5 vs. DI opponents.
SIU shot only 28% from the floor, 26.7% from 3-pt. SIU looks to have trouble getting much from their bench, as Dillard came off the bench to get only one basket to go with 4 turnovers. The Salukis had a couple of long scoreless stretches including nearly the final 5 minutes.
Only one other bench player scored (Cornelius). Bocot was 0-2 with 2 turnovers, Evans 0-2 in his return.
There were people predicting Bocot as Newcomer or Freshman of the Year in the Valley...but in 8 games, he is 4-21 (19%) and averaging only a bit over 1 ppg. and more than twice as many turnovers as shots made.
SIU's RPI is 251, next to last in the MVC.

There were people predicting them to finish 2nd or 3rd in the Valley; they have lost Tatum, young,Shaw and Falker in the lat 2 seasons, those players were the mainstays of that program and Lowery has had a lot of player turnover since he took over as the head coach. His teams play good defense but have trouble scoring on offense. We had a coach similiar to him a few years ago.

Yeah, SIU is kinda in the same position as Illinois has been the past couple of years. They had mainstay players, but were unable to recruit to the same level as the players they had because the recruits would get very little playing time. Now finally the Illini are getting back into a position to win and getting good kids. SIU should rebound in the next year or two I think, but not this year. They will be good at home and thats about it. In facet the only MVC team I am worried about playing at Carver is ISU.

Lowery's loss total has gone up yearly in almost direct proportion to how many of his own players he has playing for him.
