A couple upsets tonight (12/23)

Iowa State had a brutal loss at home to South Dakota State...makes me wonder if they can beat SIU-Edwardsville in about 10 days.

Nebraska lost at home to UMBC...they made a late run after being down double digits most of the game. They also lost to Oregon State earlier this season.

A very bad night overall for the Big 12 when you figure the Missouri game in there as well.

Not really an upset, but Arizona beat Kansas easily at Arizona. The only legit Big 12 win was Texas over Wisconsin at the hostile Kohl Center.
 
The game was close for a while then a supposedly depleted and demoralized Arizona squad blew Kansas away down the stretch.
It's hard to imagine, but Arizona's best player, Chase Budinger had a horrible night, going 1-9, and Arizona shot only 27% from 3-pt range.

Juco point guard, and Top-5 junior college player, Tyrone Appleton must be having serious thoughts about his decision to go to Kansas.
They don't give the guy but about one minute per game!




if there's any consolation....5-Star center Jeff Withey, who just left Arizona when Lute Olson left, is going to transfer to Kansas.

no sooner did I say this then, coupled with Kansas landing top transfer, Jeff Withey...and now there's talk that someone has to leave as Kansas is over the limit for scholarships...
and even worse, they are intensely pursuing at least two other kids for 2009....
so the talk is that Appleton is probably the most likely to leave and then either Sherron Collins might go pro or Quintrell Thomas might also leave....to open up enough rides for Bill Self's desires...
