Chances of AW playing tonight...

It appears that AW has been practicing on his own as of late and still not with the team. I'm sure that some of that has been conditioning for him to stay in shape. Also, I am under the impression that AW CAN play this entire game and still be eligible according to the rules of the NCAA for a medical redshirt since it is before the deadline and since he hasn't played in a game yet this season.

Do you think AW comes into this game at all? I know in the past few games he hasn't had the boot on and has warmed up with the team before hand....What do you think?

Zero chance! If he has not been practicing with the team I'd believe the chance of him seeing the court as nil.

I can't see him being effective while not practicing with the team. If he was, I'd consider it. Without that, there's more value in him redshirting.

Make the decision now too, because if we jump out to, say, 6-0, boy, that itch to play is going to need some scratching.

BU guard Andrew Warren still is 'day to day,' according to Les and hasn't yet practiced with the team. When asked if the junior might suit up tonight, Les said 'I'd say probably not.' This is the final opportunity for Warren to test the foot in a game and still receive a medical hardship waiver (an extra year of eligibility at BU). If Warren plays during this season after tonight, he would have to forego the extra year.

I agree that he shouldn't get any PT, but purely for the theatrics of it all and a potential psychological edge it could give BU before a raucous sell out crowd, I think it would be hard not to at least consider it as a possibility.

If he is at or near 90-100% healthy & pain free is there anyone's minutes you wouldn't trade for AW? Only problem is the rust, but in all honesty some people never get rusty.

Logic dictates you won't see him tonight, but my gut is telling me otherwise.

If you saw him even back in the Platteville game... when he was thought to only be out for a little while... he was rusty. He seemed much slower than he used to be.

I would love to see AW in the starting lineup, play a few mins, and then have Dodie or CR come in for him. Maybe let him in for a few minutes here and there.

Benefits:
-Put Jank and ISU on edge... mess with 'em a bit.
-Get AW a few minutes in a game you KNOW he wants to play
-Get the fans more pumped up
-Doesn't hurt the redshirting ability, since this is the last came he could play in
-Get a few good 3s to sink? :D

Cons:
-Too slow, not up to speed to compete in the game
-...? What do you think?

CONS - He reinjures his surgically repaired foot that has already caused him to miss 2 months of the season, and puts next season and his career in jeopardy.

Fair! But if he's already practicing on his own... it sounds like that isn't as likely. But I do agree that his health is more important than anything else.

Clearly that is the most serious Con and I trust that he wouldn't see the floor if his Ortho feels that's a risk, but they've said for months that it's been healed and that they were waiting for him to be pain free. It's all conjecture at this point, but fun to talk about. Especially since after the DR comeback last year it seems to put the ISU fans panties in a bunch.

Except its already been stated by multiple parties that it would have to be a new injury...at this point if that were to happen it would be about 1 in 100,000 chance to do so...

and BTW....Daniel Ruffin had not practiced before he came back to play the ISU game last year...just individual workouts like AW has done...

Gives you something to think about ;-)

If nothing else, I send him out in full playing gear just as food for thought.

Would be funny to dress him, but then Les would be a liar or something. I don't expect him to play tonight, or again this season, at this point. As long as it's whatever Andrew wants regarding his eligibility, it's fine with me.

Let's get this ingrained into people's head because some still seem confused.

AW can play tonight without affecting his eligibility for a medical redshirt. It is my understanding that he could play all 40 minutes tonight and still be eligible for the redshirt. Also if we go 6-0 then there would be no itch to scratch because after tonight a decision needs to be made that is final for the rest of the season on whether he plays or does not.

This is why I'm leaning towards AW getting a few minutes to test it out and see how it feels in game. And yes DR came in last year w/out practicing with the team.

Do I think he should redshirt. Yes I think he should, but him playing in this game is an unrelated issue to whether or not he redshirts except that maybe JL wants to see how he feels.

This is the main reason this will not happen and why for one game would one want to to this.

What happened to Smith when IL played BU 2 years ago and then wasn't able to play during the Big 10 season. This game is not worth jeapordizing the health of the argualbly the best player we have on our team.

I will be surprised if he doesn't play at least a few minutes in an effort to spark the crowd and the team. Let's be honest Coach les has a track record of this very thing. Saving the return of his stars against ISU.

I expect Warren to play. The thought of him not playing because he hasn't practiced with the team is one I don't buy. He's an experienced upperclassmen that has led BU to 5 post season games and many other accolades. If he were a young and inexperienced player it would be different.

Warren plays tonight.

I assure you that Coach Les does not go for gimmicks like you suggest. The "return" of Daniel Ruffin last year was 100% coincidental with when he was cleared by doctors to play, and had nothing to do with who we were playing. Were there ever any other examples?
But it does work to Bradley's advantage if the opposition is worried about these things!:D

I'm not a betting but I'd put down even money that AW will not play or dress to play. DR was a different case! DR could not redshirt, it was his senior year and he had extensive time playing with the team during the season. Let's just put this notion to bed and keep it in our dreams. Shooting around on your own is so much less stressful then playing in the game. THe difference would be heading to your local go-cart track and then believing you are ready for the Indy 500.
