Two major upsets in the ACC tonight!

It has already been mentioned that #19 Boston College lost a home game to Harvard tonight 82-70 after BC upset North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday.

Not to be outdone, Morgan St stuns Maryland at Maryland 66-65! Morgan St out of the atrocious Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference is now 6-8 while Maryland drops to 11-3. Morgan St also upset DePaul in Rosemont earlier this year.

It looks like the ACC fell back to earth a bit tonight! :D

Other upsets....

Matt Roth was 3-7 from 3-pt last night in their loss to Michigan, and his 3-pt shooting is now at 36.5%

That wouldn't be bad to have on a very nice and surprising (w/ all the injuries it is a very pleasant surprise-if there is anyone that can honestly say that 3 months ago we would be w/o AW & WE and be 4-0 in the conference I think I would have to buy you a drink-NOW THAT IS BEING AN HONEST PERSON) BU team. He would definately be a zone buster and we are going to see lots of zones the rest of the year.

Oh, the horror, what will "Dicky V" say?

Probably:

"Something stupid, something stupid, Baybee!...duke something stupid, duke something stupid baybee."

i'm so happy he didn't broadcast the duke game last night...i could at least watch Davidson attempt to comeback w/o muting the TV

Two really good quotes from yesterday........

Before last night's game:
"Coach Gary Williams said he can't understand why voters ignored his team's accomplishments.
Williams is confident that the Terrapins ..had done enough to merit inclusion in the polls."

After last night's game:
"This is the new normal for Maryland...beat a great team and lose to a mid-major
or low-major program. If the Terps don't win nine or 10 ACC games (improbable), they are headed to the NIT again."
"the more likely scenario now is Maryland plays in the NIT again."
"Has the Maryland men's basketball team fallen so far that it doesn't even
have the right to call itself the best college basketball team in the state?
Because right now, that honor belongs to Morgan State."

"This Morgan State bunch scored 37 at Utah, and won by two points against William Jessup,
which had previously lost by 46 against the Oregon Institute of Technology.
"

Hahaha, Morgan State is the next Gonzaga. Look for them to make some noise in the tournament...

Reminds me of the very first game right after Gary Williams' famous rant against the Valley and Barry Hinson, claiming the Valley didn't deserve four NCAA bids while he went to the NIT in 2006.
His Maryland team was gifted with top seed in the NIT and promptly lost at home to bottom seed Manhattan.

I cheered almost as much for that game on the big screen in Oakland, Michigan as I did for BU over Kansas and Pitt!

This guy is a complete tool! I know Morgan St may not be on the same level of other mid-majors such as Gonzaga or at least half of the Valley. But how dare he lump all of the low and mid-majors into one group like this! It's as if they are all "below" him and he has to hold his nose while playing them!

I wonder if he would have said the same thing had he lost to Gonzaga or Memphis.

GW is not looking good right now. He is not recruiting well, his relationship with the current AD is not great and the bottom line they need the money from this program to pay for their nice on campus arena. What he has going for him is that the fans love him but that is starting to get shaky of late. There is no reason that Maryland should not be able to recruit talent. They have one of the nicest facilities in the country, close to two large urban areas, great TV market and media coverage, great fan base, great league, fantastic tradition and frankly (Balt.- DC) one of the best areas to recruit talent.
Sometimes these things happen and it would not surprise me if he is let go after this season, unless a miracle happens. With what he has to work with the CBI and or NIT should rarely be an option.

Gary Williams must be getting at least a bit worried...
last night his team blew a 17 point lead in the final 10 minutes to lose to Miami 62-60.
They were pretty hopeful of an NCAA bid this year, but now they're probably hoping they can still salvage a CBI bid...

And the beat goes on......................

Hmmm...one by one by one...all those who dissed on Bradley and on the MVC back in 1986 are going down, down, down....

Packer has lost his job, Digger has lost his reputation, Knight has lost his mind, and now Gary Williams is losing every game.

Don't you mean 2006? ;)
