I plan on going to the tourney this year but I am going to just wait and see what is available on the street before the sessions.

I am tired of buying my tickets up front through the Valley/Bradley and getting end zone or seats in the back of the Bradley section.

I think there will be plenty of tickets available for every session this year.

Overall BAD for the MVC...good for ISU... dunno about any others...

Tourney ticket update

There were 6,624 all-session discounted tickets sold for the Valley Tournament, which will be held March 5-8 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. That is down from last year??™s record pre-Jan. 1 total of 7,276.

ISU fans apparently have been caught up in the team??™s fast start. The Redbirds sold 1,000 all-session tickets, up from last year??™s 600. That put ISU third behind Creighton (1,550) and Southern Illinois (1,100).

I couldn't agree more...

It seems that every year I put in my form earlier to get preferential seating, end up getting worse seats from the previous year, yet all the fat cats get the best seating even though they only pay attention to half the game and only show for the Bradley game.

At this point I could care less about the discount and will also see if I can get better seats when I head over...

Why waste my time with a ticket office that says one thing and does something completely different...

At least advertise the "favoritism" ploy...that is what its all about...:roll:

Don't you worry about making the long trip and not getting tickets?

What kind of tickets can you expect to get and how much do you expect to pay?
 
I'd say the down year so far in the MVC and the economy has certainly had an affect on the ticket sales. A lot of people without jobs, especially with Caterpillar starting to lay off in the Peoria area.

From Bradley's perspective, I'd think the non-conference performance has had the greatest impact on why BU is in the middle. If Bradley were to beat Creighton on Saturday night and there was a story or an ad from Bradley/MVC, I'd think the all session sales would make a nice jump up from 760.

I've never bought the all session pass. There are so many easy ways to get tickets once you are down there (people selling comp tickets, teams that already have been eliminated, etc...). Plus, I don't watch any games once BU is knocked out. I'm too pissed. I just drink and gamble the rest of my time away in St. Louis.

I did have my bachelor party there a couple of years ago. It's a great weekend to have it if you're ever in that situation.

Absoultely not, this tournament is not selling out this year.

Well every year I walk up the arena and see multipule numbers of people selling tickets and I see the box office doing brisk business. I dont need to put in for BU section tickets and end up, as I did last year, in the end zone about 4 rows from the top of the section.

I know the sections and can figure out the rows so Ill just look for decent sections. And this way I can pick and choose where I sit for each session.

I just am sick of paying for what I think are below average seats well ahead of the games. Then seeing better seats out on the street and if I wait before game time can usually get them at cost or slightly above.

I would have, but I passed out too early. I'm not used to starting my pregame drinking in the AM hours.

We'll be heading down Friday morning if you are interested in riding with us.
 
How hard is it to find tickets last minute down there? Do rooms usually sell out? I have some major business travel coming up in February/March but if the deal falls through I may have some extra time to head out to St Louis.

I think with any larger city there is always availablity for hotels. I am doing everything this year within 3 weeks of the tourney. Meaning no tickets unless I see something I cant turn down, a hotel off of priceline and airfare on SWA.

In the past Ive gotten everything early including the hotel with or through Bradley at the BU hotel and its nice but not worth it, would rather find something cheaper.
 
My group always books the hotel early and we have never stayed in the same hotel as the team. We get a fair deal at our hotel and it is within walking distance to the arena. We also buy our tickets through BU, yeah we never get the prime seats, but we are in the middle of the pack with the other BU fans. We are all b-ball nuts and go to every game, even if BU has lost already so we buy all-session tickets.

I would get the hotel early if you want to be near the arena or downtown establishments, but you can easily buy game tickets right before the games, but you probably wont be by other BU fans.

St. Louis is always a good time, we all take the Thursday afternoon and Friday off and make it a long guys weekend, some good times!

Most years there are still some good hotel deals right up until the last minute. But a couple recent years every hotel room in the city sold out. It has more to do with what other events are going on in the city that weekend. One year it was Mardi Gras, and I didn't realize St. Louis has the 2nd largest Mardi Gras celebration for any US city. Every hotel was booked when we tried to get an extra room. And 2 years ago there was some kind of Home Crafting and Quilting convention in the Convertion Center/Dome the same weekend as the MVC Tournament. Believe it or not, home crafts/quilting is one of the most popular hobbies in the country and again every hotel downtown was filled.

It is much better to book early and be sure you have a room rate that allows cancellation. You can then always cancel if you decide not to go, or get a better room deal.

Bradley is staying at the Renaissance Grand, 800 Washington St. for the 5th straight year. I would advise staying at the team hotel because a lot goes on there.
They currently show room availability for $149 a night, and suites for $169 a night (a better deal), but they might still have some of the block rooms set aside for Bradley fans. You would need to call the hotel direct and ask the reservation person at the hotel (not the 800-number reservations) about the room block for the MVC Tournament/Bradley. Be persistent, when I booked these rooms it took them about 4 times to look into their files and find them.

Based on DC's advice I called the Renaissance directly, talked to their reservations department and got March 4-8 at 116.00 a night. They allow for cancellation. I asked for the MVC/Bradley block and had no issues in reserving the room.
