My buddy told me if you Capitalize KU on the Mizzou message board- you can get banned... lol... they take that rivalry seriously... not that ISU/BU isnt...

I'll propose a new clarity sort of rule. illinois state from now on should be isu. Indiana State can therefore be ISU. We can now operate without confusion or the need for colors or lower case letters in the 2nd position (except in illinois state's case), all the while supporting the rivalry.

Hehe, so I guess they don't let fans of the rival come and post then? Either way, reasonable isu fans will always be welcome long before those ridiculous kansas fans who came here before we punished them.

O man...i would have loved to have seen some of those posts... I hate KU... no real reason... most people around here dont like them b/c of Bill Self (Illinois fans whining that he left) or Mizzou fans (obvious rivalry)... I am neither...

I wish I followed this board then to see some of those posts... then the crow after the game... although I am sure none of them came back... Any Archives of that???

Hehe, they were amazing. I seem to recall the most maligned by us with one showing one of their players dunking, as if that were some kind of feat. I don't think any of them showed up to eat their crow, but I think maybe one or two of the reasonablish ones did. I'm not sure if the board keeps posts that long or not. I'll try to dig a couple up.

but in all the years I have been on message boards I have avoided using names for people that are intentionally misspelled, uncapitalized, or distorted on purpose just to be insulting or annoying.
I know it has become a trend and even the Journal Star writers have been known to do it (PT intentionally misspelled Mike Ditka's name as if to hint that Ditka didn't even know how to spell or pronounce his own name)
But no matter how commonly it is done, it is still quite juvenile and lacks any real purpose.

Examples you see on every other boards are "pu" instead of BU, "puke" instead of "Duke", "Ill-annoy" instead of Illinois, and the multiple various and juvenile names they use on Redbirdfan and salukitalk for Bradley, this message board, and even for yours truly.
I think calling people names is one of the most immature actions that sets people apart on message boards, and I have never stooped to that level. But the passion to which some people will go to do it only shows some sort of inferiority complex or jealousy on their part.
Actually, I hope we here at BradleyFans take the high road and stay away from such infantile actions that occur so much on other message boards, and I know that almost everyone does. this is something that clearly sets BradleyFans apart from those in credibility and dignity, and it's probably why half the posters from the other etams in the Valley seem to prefer to come here for discussion rather than chit chat with a bunch of name-calling posters elsewhere.

Eh, relax. It was clearly in good fun, or have you ignored the fact that I'm carrying on a respectful conversation with an isu fan in the very same thread-- in addition to another thread in which I noted I would easily root for isu over Illinois if they played each other. I don't hate isu, I rather enjoy the rivalry... I'm not offended when people call us the Feraris. I quite enjoy it actually. I suspect isu fans here can see my thread about not capitalizing the initials of there school is harmless and only used in spirit of promoting a good rivalry. Any redbird fans disagree?

Edit - I agree with you. Malicious name-calling is childish and weak... So I do not engage in it, nor do I think any of what I've said here would indicate I had malicious intent of any kind.

Thats how I saw it when I saw it. It dosen't bother this Redbird fan.

I never read anything further into it that that. I'm all about promoting/hyping our storied and continued rivalry. It's what rivals & their fans do.
