AT

Ya, it was kind of painful to watch. It's always been a bit of a mystery how a three star recruit would be buried behind the likes of SS and DC with absolutely no playing time. The good news is that he's just a redshirt frosh. and has plenty of time to develop. Other BU bigs have paid big dividends after slow starts (Rabey, Koita, Akinkule)....we'll see. In the mean time lets support the kid and believe in him.

His appearing lost is more a product of not getting the game experience and nerves than ability. Most teams should be firing on all cylinders now. . .even bad ones like Indiana State. At one point JL told him to settle down, and he did.

And because of his lack of playing time this year, it will take him a good portion of the non-con to adapt to the game speed next year.

Agreed, AT seems to be caught in the proverbial college graduate job seekers problem. All available jobs need experience, yet how do you get that experience if no one takes a chance on you...

Bradley: Seeking a 5 with experience..

Brilliant comparison...

Speaking of which, anyone want to hire an Economics/Finance BU grad in May?

A little OT but boy what a time to be graduating and I do not mean that because the team is going to be stellar the next few years I mean the ECONOMY! I graduated in '87 and that was a terrible year and time also, but this coming year has to be one of the worse in decades. I wish you luck and all the other BU grads. This would be a good time to go to the Peace Corp or even select grad schools if possible. The worse thing would be for you to try to stick it out and try to find a 9-5 that barely pays, that you hate and it may take 9-10 months to find. I say take a chance and find something where it becomes an adventure unless you have connections in landing a good job. In short do not waste your time waiting for the perfect job, you'll have plenty of time in trying to figure out what is the perfect job, go for something that will bring you some personal growth. At the end it is about the journey not the destination.

Good advice SFP. I have been taking multiple side jobs that add up to half a real job. Just started working at a bar. I think that may be the only place that you could never tell the economy is bad. Startin to think about grad school...

...and AT will be fine. I think he will get some decent time next year and be ready to contribute as a RS Jr. He looks a little rushed out there now and just needs to play at his speed and not try and rush everything to keep up with the likes of an Edge runnin the floor.

I got laid off from my internship the same evening that I started last Thursday lol. Apparently they forgot I was starting last week and word got to the vice President or someone. Sure is going to be tough finding a career job. Just read another 71,000 workers laid off nationwide today alone. That's like all of Bloomington/Normal jobless.

I hear ya JP911, I just got laid off from my part-time job/internship at ML/BAC. my finance major isn't looking too hot right now.

Dark clouds on the horizon... and I am waiting for "hope" to pay off.

AT's progress is being impeded by his lack of playing time. There's no way that Nick Evans of SIU is any more talented or farther along than AT, yet he's finding time. Our post game isn't such that 'there's no room' for AT here and there. It's really frustrating to see a talent wasting away and not getting critical development minutes, even if only in small spurts.

You are 100% right. I saw both play in high school and AT was much better then Evans. I thought AT was our best post player last year . However, I did agree with his redshirting. Now if he could get just a few minutes a game I think we would see he has the ability to play at this level. He just needs to believe and get a chance.AT is going to be good before he gets out of here. Book it.

It is plain and simple IMO, if he deseved the playing time he would be playing. JL plays for today not for what it may bring next year and that is the way coaches throughout America coach. He'll worry about next year after the season. AT will have all summer to work on his game in order to get ready for the following year. He would be doing all his players especially the seniors a diservice by not trying to put the best product possibly out there.

Really? My travels may have taken me away at times, but I know that JJ Tauai deserved to play the whole Sweet 16 year, and it took a terrible start to the MVC season and an embarrassing loss to WSU to get him back in Jim's good graces. It also took half the season for him to realize Ruffin and Franklin could play together at the same time. I wouldn't assume that just because he's not playing means he doesn't deserve it. Yes, I trust the coaches to play the best players, but they've shown over the years that isn't always the case.

I'll just have to disagree with you on this one! Last year I complained about MS and said DC should get more time. Boy was I wrong! I will have to go with the professionals on their evaluation and not on some hunch that an arm chair coach may have. 8) These guys see these guys everyday and they know better then any of us by a wide margin who will contribute the most day in and day out. I also suspect that JL is protecting AT's health for the long run. The 5 position requires some pounding and AT is probably is not physically mature enough to take that punishment. It could be like sending a welterweight into the ring with a heavyweight. He may be able to throw a few punches and land them but eventually he'll get KOed

Anyone remember when AT got the ball and then tried to pass it back out, but no one was there and it went straight to a ISU player. Man, I felt bad for him. It was a good idea considering none of our other centers can/will do that (get the ball inside and then pass it back out) just was terrible execution. I don't why, I just thought I'd bring that up. He'll be a good player by next year and be a big part of the team a year after that.

Ha SFP, I agree with all you have said here and especially that last sentence. It does not take much to see AT is not ready to play. I agree that I would like to see him get some playing time and any he would get would help his game. But the only time I am talking about is well after the game has been decided. He is so physically undeveloped right now but I think this may change by next year after all he was to have gained 15 lbs. this last year. I would take 15 or more before next season. Right now he would be like a feather in a Kansas Tornado:!::roll:
