Is there a way to find out who is reffing the game prior to the game? The refs can really make a difference in the game as we all been witness to.

As many of us have posted last night's refs were really good and allowed the game to be played out. I watched the game from a bar with of course no sound and opinions and I can say the flow of the game was very enjoyable and they really let them play and bang around a bit without the game getting out of hand one bit.

I wonder what IndSU posters had to say about the refs?

Kind of an oddity, but this will be Wichita State first time crossing the Mississippi River in conference play. They went the first half of the conference schedule without playing any of the Indiana or Illinois Valley teams on the road.

WSU has won three in a row at home after starting the Valley at 0-6. Bradley's win at the Roundhouse on New Year's Eve is looking a little better.

I don't believe the MVC releases the names of the coaches assigned for games until a few hours before each game. Even the teams don't know who the officials will be.

BU will need to have a very good rebounding game or WSU could come in here like last year and just keep shooting until 1 goes in.

Interesting notes about Wichita State's players-
Coach Gregg Marshall has changed lineups around quite a bit since Bradley played there on Dec. 31.-

Wichita State sortable team stats-
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/teams/wax/stats

Garrett Stutz, the freshman 7-footer who played a season-high 30 minutes against Bradley and scored 14 points back on Dec. 31, has taken a seat way down the bench recently. He has averaged just 8 minutes and 2 points per game over the past 5 games.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/82173

Ramon Clemente, their senior center who was leading the MVC with around 9 rebounds per game when Bradley played at Wichita on Dec. 31, has only averaged 4.3 rebounds per game over his last 6 games and has fallen way off the lead in the MVC.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/73195

A.J. Hawkins, their junior transfer from St. Bonaventure, who started and played 31 minutes against Bradley on Dec. 31, has played a little less, and did not start a couple games since then, and his scoring average has fallen off from 9.2 ppg, to 3.9 ppg over the past 7 games.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/46376

J.T. Durley, a soph power forward who came off the bench against Bradley Dec. 31, and played only 10 minutes, has been a part-time starter and has averaged over 23 minutes per game in the last 6 games. His average has risen from about 6 ppg to 10 ppg over the last 6 games
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/60596

Clevin Hannah- a 5'11" juco point guard, has been their 2nd leading scorer this year with 10.4 ppg. He has started 19 of their 20 games, and leads them in minutes played at 28 min per game. However, his scoring has dropped off to just an average of 5 ppg over the past 4 games. He had been their best 3-point shooter, but he has struggled shooting just 2-11 since going 6-6 against Drake 5 games ago..
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/82169

Toure Murry, a freshman from Houston that Bradley also recruited, is their leading scorer, and he sunk a 3-pointer to tie the game late against Bradley, before Sam Singh's putback with less than a second left won it for BU back on Dec. 31. He also made a three with 8 seconds left to win their last game Sunday against Evansville. Murry is their leading scorer at 11.8 ppg. He has been very consistent, scoring in double figures in 14 of their 20 games. He's shooting 37% from the field and 32% from three.
He plays 28 min per game, but his playing time has increased to 32.4 mpg over the past 5 games.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/82172

Aaron Ellis, a soph forward, is another sub who has seen inceased minutes recently, while Stutz's minutes have gone down. He averaged just 1.4 ppg over WSU's first 15 games, but has scored 7.0 ppg over their last 5 games.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/73194

Other subs are-
Graham Hatch-averaging 13.4 mpg and 2.8 ppg.Touted for his 3-point shooting where most of his shots come from, he is shooting 36.3 from the arc.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/73196

Reggie Chamberlain-a juco who has been a backup point guard to Clevin Hannah. He plays just 12.3 mpg, and averages 4.0 ppg. His 40.8% is actually the best 3-point percentage on the team. His minutes and scoring have dropped off significantly the last few games.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/82170

Mantas Griskenas- a senior coming off a knee injury last year, has played only 9.1 mpg, 2.2 ppg, and 1.3 rpg- all much less than his averages last year. He only played 4 minutes and was scoreless against Bradley. I wouldn't expect to see too much of him considering Bradley's speed and athleticism, and the emergence of some of WSU's other big men.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/73200

David Kyles- a 6'4" freshman, from Dallas, is their other reserve who might see some time against Bradley. He played 7 minutes against BU on Dec. 31, but has seen a little more playing time in most of their games since then. He is an athletic player, similar to Chris Roberts. He averages 9.4 mpg, 1.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg.

The only time I rest is to watch my beloved Braves...and the game against Wichita will be no different. Every home game is a must from here on out to ensure that ever-elusive top 3 finish. Despite Wichita's turnaround lately, I like the Braves by 7-10.

A good blog article by the Wichita State writer-
http://blogs.kansas.com/shockwaves/

One interesting point--
Since the MVC went to the 10-team tournament in 1997, only one 9-9 team (Bradley in 1998) has had to play in the play-in round. Seven 8-10 teams have, including two (Missouri State and Indiana State) last season.

From The Southern Illinoisan- SIU was leading the MVC in 3-point shooting, but they went just 3-15 against ISU.-

He notes that "since 1992, every team leading or sharing the Valley lead at the mid-point has gone to postseason play."

Found this to be interesting...in Valley play only thru the 1st 9 games....SM leads all player's in FT %......22-24 @ .917! :D I hope a few others pick it up on the FT % as this will get the Braves a few more W's!

Just did a search on tickets......

The best available two seats together is row 20, upper bowl. Looks like we'll push the season average over 10,000 tomorrow night. The conference game average is getting close to 11,000!

Either way, this game is a must win as the outcome will be very beneficial. We'll either be 1 game behind UNI and tied with isu or we'll be 2 games behind UNI and 1 game ahead of isu. I kind of prefer UNI beating isu, that way it gives us a buffer in case of a loss on Saturday. But then we would have to beat UNI here at home and someone else would have to beat them. For the 2nd case however, if UNI wins and we lose on Saturday, that puts us 3 games behind UNI as i'm sure they'll win at In. State. That would virtually put winning the MVC season out of reach. Ahh the dilemmas lol.

I just hope we are not looking too far ahead to Saturday's game against ISU, and focus on the task at hand. Go BU...beat the Shox!! :)

I'm with you. It'd be nice to have UNI win this game against ISU to form a sort of buffer between us and ISU for Saturday's game. But then you should always want the one with the best record to go down which means we should want UNI to lose...but then that puts us in the position to REALLY need a W in B/N.

If only we would've beaten CU and UNI...we let 'em off the hook.

Well the first thing we have to do is win this game!! Go BU
