ISU chant is %@$#&!

How is Buck ******* different the Pluck the Birds???? And please don't tell me because in Buck ******* the B and F are reversed... and in pluck the birds they are not...

How is FUBU different the I Screwed Up????

You have to keep everything in perseptive big guy...

The d*ck chant sucks...we know it, you know it,.. it is turning into the crappy schedule argument... its getting old... not just here, or our RBF- EVERYWHERE

I kind of have to agree with him. We cant have our cake and eat it too.

This was just posted on RBF...

Hopefully it will help resolve the problem...

(Athletic Director) Zenger was just on the RC McBride Show on WJBC. He was asked about the chant. Zenger said they have worked with Red Alert and the student body president regarding this issue. The importance of the issue is one of the reasons he is here and not traveling with the men's team. They have composed a letter regarding the chant that will be published in the Vidette on Thursday, mailed to all Red Alert members, and taped to the seats of the student sections for the game on Saturday. He also said that they have recieved a letter from an 8 year old girl about the chant that they would include somewhere. When asked about further measures Zenger replied that he has some other tools at his disposal for the game but was going to keep those private unless needed. He tried to keep it positive regarding the generally good atmosphere and energy at the games but was clearly not happy. One of the positives he did mention is that we are on pace to break our attendance record.

All I can say is that it is about time he did something like this. Too bad an 8-year-old girl has more sense than some of those involved, and it takes that to get some action done.

Because the Star Transport issue and Bradley being "stuck up" are not getting old from isu fans (and I have not see you post those here). Maybe get off your high horse and stop those from going on and you will have more credibility telling us to stop

Thank you, Rusty.

If you read it, I said in the post that our student section has gotten much better over the last couple of years in terms of numbers and class. I'm probably a bad example to use, but overall it's better.

Also, "I Screwed Up" isn't vulgar and is a nice little alternate expansion on the isu acronym. I didn't say we're perfect.. I held that we work a lot better with the families that come to carver than the isu kids do at their place.

I was going to avoid this thread all together, but this post caught my eye. The two redbird chants revolve heavily around an explicit. I don't need to explain that for that to be obvious. However, the two Bradley chants have nothing explicit at all. Unless some of you are considering Pluck the Birds to be explicit, which until you said this, I never had an inclination of this, not to mention we as a student section never had chanted that at all, let alone for it to be intended as an explicit. I Screwed Up is derrogatory, most chants are, but like I said there is no intent on throwing around explicits. I sure as heck don't expect an 8 year old to write in about someone saying the word screwed.

The point is, I Screwed Up and Pluck the Birds are not a play on explicit phrases. FU BU, and Buck ******* have every intention of giving that air.

I honestly did not see ONE t-shirt at Carver saying anything about ISU...
I don't deny they exist, but the difference is in the sheer numerical disparity between the two, probably 100-fold to 1000-fold that the two phrases are used and promoted ...

Wellllllllllllll....one of the last 5 years I was at Carver (not sure which)... they either gave away towels or shirts that said Pluck the Birds... and that is a fact! So I am going to have to disagree with the above post...

And there is one small book store that used to sell Buck F*radley T-shirt several years ago (The two main bookstores on campus have NEVER sold Buck F*radley shirts...at least since the early 90's when my brothers were at ISU).

They did not sell them the 4 years I was a student there (03-07)... so I highly doubt you saw over 2000 of them last year. 80% of the students where the "Red Alert" shirt they are asked to wear. The rest are either not in the Red Alert, or chose not to wear it.

Bottom line is that something official is finally being done about the cheer. This is in addition to the messages that were sent out to Red Alert members on facebook. It sucks that this couldn't be self-policed, but as I've said many times----tell students (especially drunk students) what NOT to do, and it still happens out of spite. That was the case for awhile last year anyway.

Hopefully this puts an end to it once and for all.

You're right, two years ago we received shirts and towels that said "Pluck the Birds"....where is the problem with that? I suppose the "Box the Birds" shirts were somehow problematic as well. I'm sorry, but only you find any problem with a shirt that says "Pluck the Birds." I am a 21 year old foul-minded senior who has sat in the senior section for a long time and I see nothing explicit in the saying "Pluck the Birds." Birds have feathers, feathers are plucked last time i checked. I'm sorry if you take offense to the fact that it coincidentally rhymes with an explicit word, you have to take that up with Merriam-Webster.

I know some people that are dreading going because of past experiences down there. Maybe it will be better.....

Nope...not at all... you said:
at least 2000 people at Redbird Arena has T-shirts saying that phrase when I attended last year's Bradley game.

Clearly false...

You also said:

Well... it is clear shirts were given away.... You said nothing about "years" in your entire post

Redbirdfan, are you Danny Cooksey?

Your posts are very similar to his, he burnt some bridges over here so I thought maybe you registered under another user name.

Be honest....:doubt:

Nope... I am sure the mod's can check our IP addresses... as some people have noticed... I am usually pretty civil, along with Phantom, cpamel, and DC...

I just don't like getting called out, then prove that person is wrong and I am right, then have all posts deleted... that is my only gripe

if "a long, long time" is two years... then you are correct... i am wrong!

See... its not that hard to admit when your wrong
