BU loses 61-58

Incredible three point shooting by UNI. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other team. Braves didn't handle their last three possessions very well.

I do not want to play on the same side of the bracket with UNI in St Louis and though I would feel confidant that we can beat them if we play them on Sunday. 3 point shooting relys on being fresh more so then any shot! I feel for our guys two game in a row they played their hearts out and lost. We need to strap them up again and play the season out and hopefully be playing for a 2nd place finish. I still have faith in these guys.

Sam M down the lane was all Les could draw up for our last possession? Backbreaking loss with strong possibility now of falling to 7-7 and the matinee again. UNI is team of destiny this year.

I've never seen a team make so many contested clutch 3s like UNI or a team have so many important shots / layups rattle in and out like ours did. We aren't good enough to blow people out, but we have played well enough to win more games than our record shows. We are really unlucky in close games. We play well, it's not like we absolutely blow it. It's like we're cursed. Tonight's loss was so upsetting. I have never seen anything like that. But props to UNI, after a stretch where they played like crap, they resorted to tough 3s and made them.

Luck has nothing to do with it, either you're good enough to win or you lose. In close contests, we are not good enough.

Well I'm done being positive. I've tried it for a while now and all it's gotten us is two heartbreaking loses. I'd rather take a beat down than much more of this.

A few things come in mind while thinking of this game...one is middle-of-the-pack....another is I feel bad for Bradley, we seem doomed to a destiny of mid-standings in the valley, season altering injuries, and a record that absolutely does not show how good we actually could be, but that's all it ever will be..."could"...we are unbelievably close to being 19-4 but the actuality of it is that we are very far from it. This is heartbreaking...how can you let games slip away this easily this consistently? Unbelievable.

The guy comes in with less than 4 minutes left with 2 points and finishes with probably around 15

The refs sure bulldogged us all night long, but I guess when you even up the score at 12 minutes left, it's sort of a new game. Of course we had 11 fouls and they had 4 at that point. I can't recall seeing a more one-sided game called, like maybe ever, until the last 4 minutes when the refs made some REALLY bad calls in our favor. Not sure where they found those guys, but they need to send 'em back.

I was really really mad about the reffing, but in the end, this game was decided when UNI made some ridiculously heroic shots, and we also let them have a couple of freebies, all-the-while turning it over. As the coach said, we just didn't execute well enough in the end. Anyway, bad loss, and now we gotta go get two on the road.

What happened to DD tonight...2 pts? Hats off to UNI...they looked good at the end of the game and we did not....the pressure to finsih off anyone is truly lacking on this years team....no lead seems safe and UNI showed why it has lost only 1 game this season! Really do not know what to say but another win might be hard to come by the way things are going...beginning with the slow start every game and not being able to lock anything up! The coaching staff has to take some of this one IMO burning 2 T/Os... one just getting the ball trapped on the inbounds and another getting pinned by the out of bounds in front of the bench!

UNI plays with a confidence that we don't have right now. We may have it on defense sometimes but they have it on offense. Even when #5 missed some shots early you know that he was still ready to take the next one.

Couple of points

#11 was fantastic for UNI. When he ran the play it was pretty good for them
7 assists and one TO.
UNI had 18 assists on 21 baskets...that's pretty darn good.

We had to use 2 timeouts when we got trapped in the 2nd half so we didn't have any for the last play.

Give UNI credit they played until the end and made big plays..I would just as soon play someone else in St. Louis

The refs were fine.We shot more ft's than they did and fouls were 19-18

Were you at the game? I'm not talking numbers, which were pretty even... The refs kind of caught us up at the end, but there were several points scored by UNI in the 2nd half because we had guys in foul trouble. One ref in particular seemed to just kind of hate Theron Wilson. It all started with a really REALLY bad call, Wilson's first, when Wilson was under the ball and the UNI player just shoved him in the back while TW was in the air. Somehow it was whistled on TW. For most of the game a soft touch by a BU player drew a whistle, while any inside shot by a Bradley player involved heavy contact, with almost never any call. Then there was the first half travelling by UNI, which went on all the time, particularly in the paint-- never called. Was all capped off by a really REALLY bad out of bounds play where the UNI guy actually put both feet down out of bounds before passing it, with no call. Then with about 4 minutes left, there were at least 3 really bad calls that helped Bradley out (guess they owed us by then). It was an exceptionally badly reffed game as I saw it.

But... doesn't really matter, you can speculate what might have happened if it was reffed differently, but the truth is, Bradley was up 6 with like 1:40 to play and managed to lose without the refs have anything to with that. So BU lost, and UNI took care of business.

yes I was at the game. I saw Collins knock a ball out of bounds and they gave it to BU...things happen. We lost the game because of other factoors not because of the refs. It gets old we blame the refs for home and away games.

I do agree with your last paragraph. This was our game and we got stiff at the end. They played with poise and we struggled.

If we see UNI in St Louis, all's I gotta say is... it's gonna be tough for them to beat a team like us 3 times in a season. ;)

Yeah that Collins ball was in the last half of the 2nd half yeah?

That was the point I was sort of trying to make. For part of that game I was on about refs and what-not, but none of that matters when you've got your shot to take care of business. We weren't able to tonight... So I was specifically not trying to blame the refs (though had been gearing up to earlier in the game hehe).

Frustrating, whole game just frustrating. From the refs to the disastrous final 3 minutes. Have to give credit to UNI though, 4 or 5 straight 3's to win it. Contested or partially contested, that's some championship shooting. Bradley quite frankly just doesn't have what it takes this season. Yeah we might get lucky and take the tourney down in STL but we'll get walloped against a top 10 ranked team with a consistent post presence and perimeter play. It still would be nice to make the big dance though at least. This team is an Andrew Warren away from 1st place in the Valley. If not just him, then definitely having Egolf and we would be in 1st or likely 2nd. Without them, were good enough to hang tough but just don't have that extra push to close it out. 5th or 6th place is likely in the Valley now.

Definitely a heartbreaking loss ...

But if you enjoy good basketball, this was a really entertaining game. Honestly, I thought we were a middle of the pack team going into conference play and we admirably outperformed that to start MVC action.

The two big injuries are starting to catch up with us and as it has been said before, we don't have a go to guy (or a bunch of them, like UNI has). Considering all that has happened this season, I think we're still at least "meeting" an expectation I had going into conference play. I'll be angry if we fall lower but I truly think that we'll be between 3-6 depending on how we do against Drake (2), Evansville (2) and Creighton.

I never really try to plug my blog, but I wrote about the game (as I do with every one) if you want to hear more of what I had to say. (see my signature)
