D.J. Richardson scores on ACT

Good for him! I'm sure it was a pretty bold choice to head to Findlay for a senior year (let's not forget, he is a student!), so I'm glad it worked out for him.

The details in posts like this always bring out the cynic in me... Sigh.

I'm the same way and we cannot even get JW cleared who is bi-lingual, spent time in a much better school system and passed his SAT with flying colors the first time. The NCAA has established processes that allows them to do what they want instead of using common sense.

AMEN

Hopefully common sense will prevail in JW's case.

Former Peoria Central player D.J. Richardson scored a 19 on the ACT test he took in December, good enough to qualify him to be eligible to play for the Illini next year. He is currently at Findlay Prep school in Henderson, Nevada. Findlay is 15-0 and ranked by some as the #1 high school team in the country.-

I got a 29 on my ACT and somehow didn't get into U of I...I guess I should have been working on my jump shot instead of studying..

Oh well, I'd say I got into a much better school ;)

I got 29 also.....14 the first time I took the test and 15 the second time:D

Doesn't it depend on what college you are applying to? If you went in "undecided" with a 29 I'd say UIUC would definitely take you. I applied to the engineering college and got rejected haha now I'm here at good ole BU.

I got a 30 on my ACT, applied to "my dream school" UofI on the first day they accepted applications, had numerous extracurriculars, and applied as "undecided." I was rejected.

I know a friend who scored a 35 on the ACT and was rejected from the Engineering program at UofI, and I know a friend who scored a 24 on their ACT, applied to LAS, and was accepted.

I do not understand.

Activities?

Activities?

I know someone who got all a's at Central 4.2 or 4.3 with college level courses. He also got either a 35 or 36 on the ACT. He was turned down at Harvard because he didn't have a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Maybe that was the difference? Anyway he went to Duke got all A's there, then to Stanford law school. I don't think he had much of a jump shot though.

Yeah that's what I meant...LAS. I heard that's how you get into UofI and then change your major once you're in. haha

One of my friends also got into UofI with a somewhere in the range of 21-23.....I got better than that.

I got a 29 and got in to the chemistry department which is LAS at UIUC

I think my essay was real good and I took all the honors classes in High School all the way through senior year.

i was registered and on my way....then I felt I couldnt leave peoria and the Braves :D i lost 150 bucks from my deposit lol

IMO the scores should be confidential. Who cares what the scores are? They either qualify or they do not! JW who I would bet my living on is a much better student then DJ Richardson and was not able to be cleared by the Clearinghouse. That to me is the only thing that matters.

What's even more impressing is that he was accepted with an ACT score of 19 and UIUC received 25,000 applications for either this spring semester or next Fall semester. I remember reading it on the suntimes a few weeks ago. Economy and such, everyone wanting the discount on education lol.

My sister got into the U of I with a 21 ACT score, but she was sponsored by a congressmen. It's not what you know, it's who you know.

Must be some truth in that...my daughter got a 25 or 26, and top 15% of her class--but denied at UIUC, denied at ISU, but was accepted at BU and now glad she landed there--so am I!! I remember Marcus Liberty gettting like a 16 on his ACT and getting into UIUC--so it's apparently either WHO you know, or how good your athletic skills are...

This isnt that much different than anyplace else.
