I'm starting to think that if CU keeps on winning they might get some respect from the NCAA with 21 wins already, a 55 RPI before todays win it might help out the league if they keep winning and lose the VALLEY Championship game....might be enough to get in on their own IMO!

I'll be honest here... MVC fans would actually be happier if Creighton ties UNI for 1st. So it would be good for UNI to lose to WSU tonight. I could see a possible tie of 14-4 for those two. Creighton would have the "sexier" RPI (maybe in the 40's). If they don't win the Conference Tourney (after tieing for 1st at 14-4 with an RPI in the 40's... they might get consideration for an At-Large).

So here goes....

GO SHOX! Pull it out!

10pt game with 7:31 left.

But which would have the 1 seed in the tie-breaker?

I want Creighton to win out and lose to us in the MVC title game, but UNI would need to have the tie-breaker for that to happen. Could the committee snub a 27-7, MVC title tying, like 11-1 in last 12 Dana Altman coached team??

hopefully we can sneak 2 mvc teams in this year. but im afraid to face the most likely fact that only 1 will go......(winner of tourny)

IMO, the only hope for the MVC to get 2 bids this year is for Creighton to win out, tie for 1st in the MVC, then lose in the title game of the MVC-T (to anyone).

It's a stretch, and of course the MVC would be a possible victim of what happens across the "bubble spectrum", but that's the only way I think the MVC gets 2.

I think we face WSU or EU in the 4/5 game.

Or, if we start winning, we def. have a chance for the 3 seed. ISU has a really tough upcoming schedule. They play at Drake, then against hot Wichita St, Northern Iowa, and at Creighton. But we would have to play like today for that scenario to play out. Either way, we will be in a winnable game.

I still think UNI would get consideration for an at-large bid if they win the Valley outright and make it to at least the Valley semis. But Creighton has that great win against Dayton, a road win at UNI and a much stronger RPI. So a tie for first will give the committee and excuse to keep UNI out and at the same time say that they still took "the" (or in this case a) first place team out of the Valley.

Then of course, anyone else winning the Valley along with at least a semifinal appearance for Creighton should give the Valley two teams in the tournament. Of course a championship game appearance would be even better for Creighton, just to make sure there is no debate.

Unfortunately for UNI, you are probably the only one in America who believes this. UNI will get no consideration for an at large bid....zero chance. There is absolutely nothing in their resume that would impress anyone...Zero quality wins and a schedule full of bad losses to Indy State, UIC, Wichita State, Iowa State, Iowa, and Wyoming = NIT.

Wow. Only 4 teams have a winning league record. Sure would like to have that UNI game back and still have a shot at 3rd. Might as well just rename the 2:30 Friday game the Bradley Matinee Challenge. So far we're 2-1 in the Challenge. Let's hope we go to 3-1 this year.

And that means what? Is the MVC too competitive? Is the MVC too good? Is the MVC too bad?

btw - the B12 has only 5 of 12 with winning league records. does that mean anything?

:doubt:

When the league was at its peak a few years ago, 6 teams had strong records, and 4 teams had poor records. This year, it looks to be the reverse of that. It makes sense because the league is as weak this year as it's been in over a decade IMO. Not a real big deal. These things are cyclical. I think the upswing starts next year, as the league has a ton of very talented underclassmen.

All right. I can understand all that. Thanks for your response. I highlighted what I think is probably the most important thing to me about it all. :)

To that end, I am glad that most likely we will be one of those 4 teams with a winning league record. Despite the league being down, after the non-con I had this team penciled in as a Thursday team. With our injuries and poor play it didn't look good. Despite some recent disappointments, I personally think this group has overachieved. Hopefully they can finish on a high note in St. Louis.
