Over the past 2 weeks or so, here are the stats of five different MVC teams...
and how they are playing RIGHT NOW as they head into the post-season...

See if you can identify the teams...the answers are below, just mouse-over to see...

Stats are from the last three games.......
Team A- 3-0, 81 ppg, shooting 72-138 (52.2%) and 21-53 from 3-pt (40.0%), average margin: +10
Team B- 3-0, 82 ppg, shooting 84-168 (50.0%) and 28-62 from 3-pt (45.1%), average margin: +10
Team C- 2-1, 65.6ppg,shooting 73-165 (44.2%) and 22-62 from 3-pt (35.4%), average margin: +4
Team D- 0-3, 66 ppg, shooting 73-168 (43.4%) and 20-55 from 3-pt (36.3%), average margin: -8

Answers.......mouse over to read...
Team A is Bradley - arguably equal to the best stats of any team in the Valley recently
Team B is Creighton - playing strong
Team C is ISU - shooting much more poorly than in the 1st half of the season
Team D is SIU - falling fast
Team E is the Valley leader UNI

Yikes I do not want to play CU in STL. We need those offensive stats to stay the same and have our defense come back up to par a bit. I think we've been slacking in that department in the past 3 games.

how many people a few weeks ago would have guessed our stats would look so much better than UNI's??
They (UNI) don't even look like the same team, as they have lost 4 of their last 5...
SIU also in a free fall.......presently 11-17, guaranteed a losing season, maybe even 20 losses, and looks
like they could end the season with their opponents getting MORE steals, more rebounds by far, and
way more trips to the FT line and over 100 more made FT's than SIU...very un-SIU-like...
Is this just the freshman effect?? or is the team a different team with the players Lowery has recruited?

Good post CPAC!

Lol... Most on here don't let facts like yours enter into this realm... Stats can always be spun based on perspective and what one includes or excludes....

That being said- BU is playing well- which is what the idea was initially...

I knew it would be only a matter of 2 or 3 responses before someone would come up with some spin that is irrelevant...from way back in the early part of the season which is clearly not the idea in this topic...

remember...nobody is talking what happened back in November or December...
we are talking now.... I declare the stats and W-L from 3 months ago as irrelevant....

Here are the relevant W-L numbers....
Last 3 opponent's combined record in the past 3 games againt team listed:

UNI 3-0
ISU 1-2
Creighton 0-3
SIU 3-0
Bradley 0-3

The conclusion is that Bradley and Creighton are playing well, ISU is starting to show weaknesses, and UNI & SIU are tanking it.

Thanks Braveman. I wasn't trying to discredit BU or any other team on the list. But you do have to look at the opponents. BU is playing well.

The conclusion is that Bradley and Creighton are playing well, ISU is starting to show weaknesses, and UNI & SIU are tanking it.

Last 10 games

Creighton 9-1

ISU 6-4
UNI 6-4

BU 5-5

SIU 3-7

I don't see how you can say Bradley is playing well.
Point allowed last three games.

ISU 174
UNI 197
CU 207
BU 214
SIU 234

Be sure to tell this guy, too...

"Still, this season’s Braves have registered some serious numbers these past
three games that should make the league sit up and take notice of its fourth-
place team heading into the final week of the regular season. Bradley has
averaged 81 points, 12.3 turnovers, shot 52 percent from the field and 40
percent on 3-pointers.

Those are major improvements in areas greatly in need of being shored up
from the first 25 games.

“I’m starting to see this team come together,” said BU coach Jim Les.

Bradley’s first 15 minutes on Saturday was its best sustained execution on
both ends all season, hands down."

and don't look now, but Bradley's baseball team is also playing well...
beating Pitt & Memphis to go 2-0 and winning the Championship of the
Service Academy Spring Classic.

(please no attempted digs about the combined records of BU's opponents...)

The one thing that I get out of these last 3 games: our offense IS playing better. I feel like I can say this because earlier in the season even against sub-par competition (like some on this thread are claiming) our shooting percentages were still not exactly high. We would beat them by defense. Now we are playing sub-par competition in the past 3 games and we are beating them with offense. Those percentages are promising if we can sustain them all the while picking it up on defense again. If our early season defensive percentages come back and our current offensive percentages only go down slightly (2-3%) to better competition then I say we have a good shot in the Valley tourney. If we play defense like we did against Loyola we'll get smoked.

I agree we've had sub-par competition in the last 3 games and deep down T agrees also, but the percentages are at where they haven't yet been all season...so that IS promising.
