Sam Singh Year 6

Singh for President
4 more years!! 4 more years!!!

this is fantastic.
1) he'll help with recruiting based on his attitude and "player coach" leadership skill set
2) He'll take a TON of pressure of WE to perform. Will then won't need to be the starter if JL or trainers feel he's not ready.
3) Now JL has a "dependable" big man to go to. Sure he's not POB...but Les knows what he's gonna get out of SS and won't be hunting the JUCO market for another big man.

Starting line up next year:
EM, SM, AW, CR, SS

TB will start over CR at the 4 Book it! CR will play the 3 exclusively with perhaps AW floating down to the 2 occasionally with SM and EM playing the 1.

who's starting Sam or Edge??
or are we just gonna cite the other multiple threads for that arguement

is CR's shot good enough for the 3?
i know he can hit it, but i feel liek he's built like a 4 more than a 3 IMO

AW will be the starting 3! CR will be the first guy off the bench probably pushing AW to the 2 and depending on what we need or who is hot EM or SM will be playing the 1 at that time. CR is not built for the 4 but as a 2-3 player. He is only 6'5" and can handle the ball. TW is 6'5" but is stronger and cannot handle the ball and that is why he is an undersized 4. Next year we will have TB start at the 4 with JP and MK fighting it out for backup time and probably it will depend on match-ups.

CR started at the 3 last night. I hope for a lineup of SM, AW, CR, TB, WE

What about Darian Noris? He will become a scorer!I think he will put forth the effort to get more minutes...He scored a lot of points in high school...

I would think our biggest question mark for next year is at the 4. That is why I believe CR will be at the 3 and in a pinch used at the 4. I think our depth with overlapping players looks like this:

EM - SM, DN
SM - DN, DD, AW
AW - CR, DD
TB - JP, MK, CR
SS - WE, AT (Until WE proves he can play 20+ positive minutes)

One thing is for sure we will have guys challanging for playing time, plenty of match up problems and depth.

BTW I really like your proposed line up but I'm going by JL's history!

How can you not love Sam? Glad he'll be back. But, you have to think it has serious ramifications for AT. In effect, a THIRD red shirt year. He had zero meaningful minutes this year. Which means he hasn't progressed in two years at BU. So how much can we reasonably expect next year? I think our experience with super Bigs over the past seven or eight years indicates it just doesn't happen. Hope I'm wrong.

Not picking on you Connor... I just wanted to take this moment to say/share/educate it isn't Edge... it's Eddren.

;)

oh i know its eddren

I've been hearing people reffer to him as Edge James...but w/o the being a running back thing

but now...just for you MM...i will be reffering to him by his full name:

So who gets teh start: Sam or Eddren O. McCain ;)

Sam was significantly better at the start of this year, then after the broken nose he became a beast. He hustles, fights, and scrambles and we now have two game that we would not have won without Sam's clutch shot (or layup :))

This pleases me, although until he cut the speech short and handed off the mic, i thought he was joking. This is exciting news for next year, but lets not forget we have more games this year.

I'm just trying to say... I think he prefers to respond to "Eddren". And that's his name. You can call him whatever you like. I liked the nickname "edge" - and not following football at all, I have no clue who Edge James is and could care less.

As to who starts - I have no idea. As to how much both contribute (Eddren and Sam)... well, I like (my) idea of how much both will contribute in their careers (IMO)... and I think it will be a lot. :D

More I've thought about this, the more I agree with the general sentiment in this thread. No better way to use that scholarship as we get a great competitor back for another year who's experienced and knows the system in and out.

...didn't remember SS only getting 7 games in his soph. year? :o

Here is a summary of Sam's 5 seasons at Bradley--

His freshman season (2004-2005) he played in 5 games out of Bradley's total of 28, started none, before injuring his shoulder in a practice session and he required surgery. So he qualified for a redshirt year that season. He played in 5 games, and averaged 5.8 mpg, 2.2 ppg, and 1.4 rpg.
Recall that Sam was a freshman the same year that Patrick O'Bryant was a freshman. Patrick was a starter from day one, and Sam was a backup.

His 2nd year, as a redshirt freshman (2005-2006- Bradley's Sweet 16 season), he played in 7 games out of Bradley's total of 33, started none, then injured his knee and required ACL reconstruction and missed the rest of that season. He required a second ACL surgery later in the spring of 2006 to re-do the injured knee. In the 7 games he played, he averaged 8.3 mpg, 2.4 ppg, and 2.3 rpg.

Because of his repeat surgery in the spring of 2006, Sam started the next season, his 3rd year (2006-2007), slowly, and was never full strength that season. He appeared in only 24 of 35 games, started none, and averaged just 5.1 mpg, 0.9 ppg, and 1.3 rpg- all career lows.

His 4th year (2007-2008 ) as a junior, Sam was finally closer to being healthy again. He appeared in 36 of Bradley's 38 games, and started 3, averaged 8.9 mpg, 3.0 ppg, and 2.1 rpg.

This year (2008-2009) as a "senior", Sam played in 28 of 30 games, and was in the best health since before his first injury back in 2004 (shoulder). He missed 2 games due to the broken nose which he suffered 6 minutes into the Southeast Missouri State game, which was the only game he started! He then returned with the mask and played in every Bradley game since.
In the 28 games he has played so far, Sam is averaging 18.3 mpg, 4.6 ppg, and 3.1 rpg, all career highs!

Sam Singh, Professional Student. :)

I wonder, if he stays another year, will they be able to find enough courses that he hasn't taken already?

Nothing wrong in loving school!

BTW in Dave Reynolds column today, JL addresses the playing time of AT. I think it is pretty clear he has a lot to work on. Having SS back is going to be a big boost down low next year. Not because he is going to dominate in the post, but because he can give us minutes and let the younger guys learn at a easier pace.
