Conference Tourneys upset thread

Huge upset today as previously winless DePaul takes out Cincinnati 67-57! Although they still look safe for the NIT, this loss may just send Cincy right down to the CBI again!

And St. John's beats Georgetown.

Rutgers gave ND some fits in South Bend last week. Could be a third upset at the Garden.

What a day for upsets....

-In the Big East
16-16 St. Johns over 16-14 Georgetown to go to quarterfinals
9-23 Depaul over 18-14 Cincinnati to go to quarterfinals

-In the Big Sky
14-16 Montana St with another upset, this time over 21-9 Weber St, to go to Champ. game

-In the Horizon
25-10 Cleveland St over #17 ranked 26-5 Butler to win Championship

-Honorable mention for the MAC
20-12 Akron survives by a point in OT over 7-25 Toledo in the 1st round

Some more for the list...

-in the Big 12...
18-13 Baylor over 18-12 Nebraska to go to the quarterfinals
14-18 Texas Tech over 23-9 Texas A&M.... (Could push TX A&M to the bubble possibly?)

-in the Conference USA
10-21 Rice over 15-17 Marshall to go to the quarterfinals
15-16 S. Mississippi over 17-14 UCF

- Minnesota over NWestern 31-25 @ half

-Louisville currently up on Providence by 8 w/ min left in 1st half

-VT up on Miami by 4 w/ 1 min left in 1st half

-Xavier leads SLU by 5 w/ 4 min left in 1st half...

None of which would be upsets BUT:

Baylor leads Kansas by 12 in the Big 12 tournament

Yes, we'll know soon whether a few of these big bubbles will pop. So far so good. :)

Xavier ended up blowing out SLU.

Baylor and KU are locked up at 51 with 10:07 to play.

Kentucky is trailing at half in the SEC tourney.

And Baylor ends up winning. They are a talented team and I wouldn't put a bubble-bursting conference tournament championship past them.

Kentucky beats Ole Miss 71-58. Kentucky still needs to make it to the SEC championship game at the very least, if not win the whole thing to make the tournament. But the sooner these type of teams lose, the better for the mid-majors still waiting to see if they get their invite.

Also nice to see Joe Lunardi only locking in LSU and Tennessee at the moment. The best scenerio for the mids would be to see those two teams make the finals. A third team probably gets in, but let's not make a case for four by having LSU and Tennessee get upset along the way.

Well Baylor needs to win the Big 12 championship to get into the tourney, but again, the farther they go, the more nervous the mid-major bubble teams get. So hopefully someone will beat these guys sooner than later.

WVU will win against Pitt but those reffs looked more like Valley refs then Big East ones. Bob Huggins is one hell of a coach no matter how much trouble seems to follow him. I think Pitt still keeps their number 1 seed.

It is freaking Friday morning in NY and they are still playing! I thought Syracuse had it in regulation and here they are now in the 3rd OT! Awesome game!

This has got to be one of the best games I have ever, ever had the pleasure to watch. UCONN gets up by 6 and the Cuse come back and tie it again and send it into a 4th OT!!!

WOW, what a day in tourney hoops. This had to be one of the craziest ever conference wise.

-In the ACC
12-18 GA Tech over 18th ranked 23-8 Clemson to go to the quarterfinals

-In the Atlantic 10
20-11 Duquesne over 22-10 Rhode Island to go to the semifinals

-In the Big East (What a disaster)
23-10 W. VA over 2nd ranked 28-4 Pittsburgh to go to the semifinals
20th ranked 25-8 Syracuse over 4th ranked 27-4 CT in a marathon 6 OT's with horrendous refs
honorable mention of 13th ranked 26-6 Villanova, found an open back door to win by a point over 21st ranked 24-9 Marquette

-In the Big 12 (Another disaster)
19-13 Baylor over 11th ranked 25-7 Kansas to go to the semifinals
22-10 Oklahoma State over 7th ranked 27-5 Oklahoma

-Honorable mention in Conference USA
