The only D1 college basketball game tonight is UTEP at Oregon State.
These 2 teams start a best 2 out of 3 series for the championship of the College Basketball Invitational tournament. Game 2 will be Wednesday, and game 3, if needed, will be Friday. The games are televised by HDnet cable network. Tonight's game is at 9:00 pm CST.

Oregon State won the first game in the CBI Final best-of-three series last night over UTEP 75-69.
OSU lead by 21 points early in the second half, but UTEP slowly came back to within 3 points, but couldn't get any closer.
The series moves to El Paso for game 2 Wednesday, and game 3, if needed, on Friday.
Attendance was 8,029. The all-time high for the CBI was the Tulsa game at Bradley last year when BU drew 9,014.

It was close all the way. But a bunch of late fouls and free throws made the final margin bigger.
The final score of game 2--

Oregon State 63
UT El Paso 70

Series all tied up 1-1.
Game 3 on Friday at UTEP.

The Oregon State Beavers win the 2009 CBI with a 81-73 win over Texas-El Paso. OSU's record is now 18-18!

I think this is a step in the right direction for a program that has been good in the past.
(Gary Payton anyone) For a team that didn't win a game in the conference last year, to get the chance to practice for a couple weeks with a new coach (first brother in law) this can be nothing but positive for the Beaver program.

As a side note, the Beavers got front page publicity on the Oregonian sports page. This with the Portland Trail Blazers in the middle of a playoff run.

Good on you Craig Robinson and the Oregon State Beavers

The game at UTEP set a CBI attendance record, breaking Bradley's record from last year- 12,000 attendance.
