Jordan and Jordan...

Why

Why

Who is coach down there? Must be some connection to the Chicago basketball machine. I am very surprised, I heard he was getting offers from Iowa and Oklahoma. Either that was all hype or he actually realized he may be just a role player at those schools.

Kirk Speraw doesn't have any connection to Chicago that I can find. He is from Sioux City, Iowa, and played collegiately at Iowa. He began as a grad asst. at Iowa, then was an assistant at Denver, then Florida Southern. Then he was head coach at Pensacola junior college in Florida for 3 years, then 3 years as an assistant under Lon Kruger at Florida. He has been head coach at UCF for the last 16 years.

None of his assistants have any Chicago connection either-

You guys can't forget about Jordan's old teammate at Whitney Young, Albert Rompza, being at Central Florida. I'm sure that's all it took for him to take a serious look at the school. Rompza just finished up a very good freshman season. And since Jordan and Garcia are buddies he was down for the ride with Marcus.

Plus the weather is not bad and I'm sure it gives MJ incentive to go visit and hit the links.

MJ says, "Son you have offers to play in cold weather areas but if I was you I'd settle for a warm weather area where perhaps I can buy a nice place next to a golf course."

Marcus Jordan has said he wanted to go somewhere he could play right away, but UCF has only 2 seniors on their team, 1 junior, 3 sophomores, and they had 9 freshmen this past season.
Of the returning players, 9 of them are guards, and nearly all are shooting guards.

So, since shooting guard is the position that both Marcus Jordan and Nik Garcia will most likely play, it appears they might have a little competition.
By the way, the other 2009 recruits UCF has include another shooting guard, R.J. Scott.

Nik Garcia, a 6'6" shooting guard from the class of 2009 from Evanston HS, who went to University of Central Florida and is in the same freshman class there as Marcus Jordan, has announced he is leaving UCF and transferring.

As noted above, UCF had a lot of shooting guards, and Garcia wasn't playing much. He had only played in 6 of their 8 games, for a total of 27 minutes (4.5 min per game).
He was averaging 0.7 ppg and was 0-4 from three. UCF is 6-2.

Marcus Jordan is averaging 17.5 minutes per game, and 4.0 ppg.
