Greg Paulus gets look from NFL

It would truely be a miracle if he made the NFL as a QB. That's the one position where, I think, it is imperative that you get game experience to get used to the speed of the game.

If he had played some in college I might see him as having a chance. But the difference in speed and athleticism between high school and pro ball is just too much to expect someone with NO college QB experience to be able to handle, IMO.

You're right. Just ask Matt Cassell ;)

Greg Paulus was a highly rated quarterback in high school at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse. He put up huge passing numbers, and everyone assumed he would play college football.
He was the Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school football-

But then he had a couple great years playing basketball as a junior and senior and got an offer from Duke, and decided to play basketball in college. There were reports that Notre Dame tried to get him to play football and were ready to offer a scholarship for him to play quarterback for the Irish.

Here is a strange twist of events-

By NCAA rules, even though he has completed his basketball eligibility, Greg Paulus actually has 1 year of eligibility left to play football.
Since he knows he does not have much of a future in pro basketball, he is pursuing his possible football career.

According to sources close to the situation, the former Duke point guard was in Ann Arbor on Tuesday meeting with Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez about the possibility of playing this season for the Wolverines.

Just heard on Sportscenter that he's had not only Green Bay Packers and NCAA Michigan, but a "half dozen NFL teams" and "numerous college programs" calling him.

Has that ever happened... play 4 years of basketball, then transfer and play a year of football? Crazy. I would assume he'd take a pro job as a reserve over another year of college, though...

I know guys have transferred schools and changed sports---just none of the top of my head. It is rare though.

I know a few situations at Bradley where an athlete finished eligibility in one sport then played another the 5th year.
