Hoopmasters.com has reported for the last couple years that Bradley is recruiting Chicagoan Michael Haynes.
http://www.hoopmasters.com/playerprofile.php?pid=1167760455

It appears Bradley is still involved with Haynes, a 6'6", 220 pound combo forward. A couple years ago, several sites ranked Haynes in the top 3 or 4 players in Illinois in the class of 2009. But over the past year, his stock has fallen a little. This year, for his senior year, he transferred from Chicago Washington High School to Fenger High School. His coach there will be Loren Jackson, former coach at Chicago Julian HS and at Boys to Men Academy in Chicago.

He will be making an official visit to Iowa State this weekend.

a couple clips--
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward who recently transferred from Chicago Washington to Chicago Fenger...has offers from Iowa State and Marquette and has also been talking with DePaul and Bradley. He is not fully qualified yet but feels his chances are good that he can do so by the end of the year.
Haynes has always been described as a combo-forward but he hopes to change that in college. "I'd prefer to eventually be known as guy who mainly plays the three position but I don't mind sliding over to the four at times," he said. "I feel I can play the three because my shot has really improved a lot during my time in high school."
Haynes is in no hurry to make a decision but hopes to learn a lot about the program during the weekend. "No matter what I still want to wait to make a decision," he said. "But I really want to see what the other coaches are like and how things are with the players. That's probably what is most important to me."

...His coach there will be Loren Jackson, former coach at Chicago Julian HS and at Boys to Men Academy in Chicago.

there has been NO official confirmation of this but the talk and speculation has been going on for more than 6 months.

Here's one report...
"Fenger is a big question mark right now. Is former Boys to Men and Julian
Head Coach, Loren Jackson the new man at Fenger? The Fenger website
claims he is while others in the CPS and in the basketball world can only
speculate. Jackson was coaching the squad at the NIU team camp earlier this
summer which has lead many to believe that it is without a doubt he will lead
the titans this upcoming winter, however, lets just wait and see.
There are rumors that Mike Haynes, the 6-8 center from Washington, if ruled
eligible, will dress for the Titans."

another report:
"Former Julian coach Loren Jackson has landed at Fenger and is already bringing in talent.
"I am the coach and I'm working at Fenger," Jackson said. "Michael Haynes is here. There were
some situations that went on at Washington and his dad did not feel that Washington was a
safe environment for him."

Haynes, a 6-6 senior, told Scout he has offers from Marquette and Iowa State and interest from
DePaul and Bradley. He was originally considered the top player in the 2009 class."

However, the talk centers on Jackson's prior troubles with the Chicago Public League, and some
say he was banned from the CPL causing him to leave Chicago Julian in 2005 and found Boys to Men.
Also, the IHSA web site for Fenger still shows Lamont Nelson as head coach....so I guess time will tell.

Seems like we already have a lot of big men, but it seems we're even pursuing disappointing Chicago Bears defensive linemen now. :)

Is it reasonable to assume that JW could be replacing TW at the 3 spot when he leaves? With all the bigs we'll have legitimate 4's so JW shouldn't have to play out of position like TW.

Yeah I guess I feel like we have several guys who can play the 3 on the squad for 09... Roberts, Egolf, Brown, Wilkins, and maybe even Knezevic and Prosser (though i think of them as 4/5s)...

Then in 2010 we add Harris also.

Does anyone know if Bradley is still in the running with this kid for the final 09 schlorship ? I know we all are wanting DS to sign but if this doesn't happen, I have no problem with signing a 6'6" Freshman wing player.

I am convinced we are not "OUT" of the running, but Chicago kids with handlers and advisors often broker themselves endlessly to the highest bidder (see Justin Cerasoli who can barely score against DII Rockhurst while playing for his 3rd DI school, Loyola).

I trust our staff will find the "next" Stephen Curry...

Cerasoli has looked good there at St. Mels with Stan Gaines taking all of the defense's attention. Then, he slithered his way to West Aurora where he played with 3 or 4 guys that opposing teams had to focus on. His problem wasn't really his handlers, it was that he thought he was a lot better than he is.

Six of the people who started games in his 2 years at WA went on to get Div I schollies.
J. Thomas-FAMU
Pruitt-UIUC
Mason-Marquette/LSU
Binns-Fordham
TJ Marion-EIU

I am thinking there was one more but now I cant remember who I was thining it might have been.
At least he was smart enough to not try to go to the nba draft out of high school. (strong rumor he was considering it)

Whats up with Haynes. I just checked espn.com recruiting and we are listed as still being considered by him. Any news?

I have no inside info to back this up.. but my "Saluki" friend who is pretty tight on their team says they are recruiting this kid and the Braves are one of the competitors.

Bradley has been recruiting him for some time.
But it's been reported there might be eligibility issues.

Michael Haynes- 6'6", 225 pound forward- Indian Hills CC in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Bradley is back recruiting Michael Haynes who will be a junior college sophomore this coming season at Indian Hills. Former BU Coach Jim Les recruited Michael Haynes out of Chicago back in 2008-2009. He is a highly athletic kid who was at Chicago Washington HS as a sophomore and junior, and was rated one of the top kids in Illinois in the class of 2009. He reportedly had offers from several majors, including Marquette and Iowa State, and interest from Illinois, DePaul, and others. He transferred to Fenger HS for his senior year, but he did not play his senior year at Fenger due to eligibility/transfer issues.
He spent a season at a prep school called Heat Academy (2009-2010) in Martinsville, Virginia, where he averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds, then signed with and enrolled at UTEP in 2010 to play for Tim Floyd.

But he was kept off the roster his first semester at UTEP, then he left in December, 2010, before he ever played a game. It was said he left "for personal/family reasons".
It is not clear where he spent the 2nd semester of last season, but he is now at Indian Hills CC.

Hopefully he is on track to graduate next spring. He will be a teammate at Indian Hills with another former BU recruit, Brandon Spearman.
Here is a thread we had about Michael Haynes a couple years ago on our board.-

Michael Haynes is still very high on Bradley's recruiting list. I have heard that Indian Hills junior College will be one of Coach Ford's first recruiting stops next week.

I wonder if we still have any interest in Michael Haynes...

His Indian Hills team are among the final 12 teams playing at the NJCAA Nationals...
and in the first game he was 0-3 and scoreless, and in the 2nd half of their 2nd game he's 0-2 and again scoreless...
On the season he played in 28 games, averaged 7.4 ppg, but only 44% from the floor and 1-8 from 3-pt range...4.6 rebs and 0.5 asst...
I would guess he's slipped a bit as he is definitely not the scorer we need.

I would hope we can do better then that. If not hold it till next year. Still hoping for the B & B boys.
