Would we or should we pick up a guy for only one year?

If we have a chance to pick up a guy for only one year that could make a big impact should we go for it! The Memphis Tigers were quite successful with Derrick Rose but he's a special talent that we would probably never have a chance with. Maryland picked up Steve Francis with the hope he could lead them to the promise land and they flopped in the 2nd round. The type of one year player we would have a chance with would probably be someone transfering out of a school with minimum elgibility left.

I would say it depends on position. If it is a 6'11" stud, I'd be all for it or a DR type player at the guard situation. Anyting else would seem to be too disruptive unless we are pointing to a certain year to make our mark.
 
If the coaches think he can help the team, I think Bradley should go for it. I hear that Bradley gets contacted every year by potential transfers. If a kid wants to come to Bradley who can help help, I think the coaches would consider it, even if he has only 1 year of eligibility.
 
I thought the Champ Oguchi pick up was questionable at first, but it turned out to be a good one. It gave King O probably his only shot at making the tourney in his four years there.
 
Champ was a great player for ISU , those type of players are not easy to find and most that have had the success that Champ had at Oregon generally don"t leave their schools.

Tony Freeman at SIU is another example. I'm looking forward to seeing him this year.
 
I am not 100% sold that Oguchi was as much help as they'd have hoped..
Remember, they won more games in 2007-2008 against a tougher schedule than they did this year!
...and Oguchi took way more shots to score his points (points per shot taken) than a lot of players do...
a number of his own teammates were much more efficient and even Sam Maniscalco, Theron Wilson, and Chris Roberts scored considerably more points per shot taken than Oguchi.
So all this proves is he shot a lot...not more efficiently, especially for a 3-pt shooter
