In addition to Missouri State maybe losing one of their incoming basketball recruits to a baseball career

there's a few more items in the news.........

--remember UNI basketball player Lucas O'Rear, who also went out for baseball at UNI and was a pretty good pitcher...
well, since UNI is dropping baseball, if O'Rear still wants to play baseball, he'd have to transfer...

Many UNI fans are already convinced he is as good as gone, and this is offered as more evidence...
that O'Rear has joined a collegiate summer baseball team and won't be playing any basketball this summer.

Lucas has only appeared in one game thus far for the Honkers, but he pitched a perfect inning in relief for the Honkers to close out a 6-2 loss to the LaCrosse Loggers, striking out 1.

Here's what Lucas says...........
"They had it (baseball at UNI) for 103, 105 years and then they drop it," O'Rear said.
"That's one reason I went there; I wanted to play both."
"That's what me and my family are trying to decide," O'Rear said of his sports future.
"If I can get a good scholarship (to another school) and the program can help me,
I'll go there. If not I'll go back (to UNI) to play basketball."

There is a summer league (Prime Time League) that UNI players play in along with Iowa, Drake, and other college kids.
They held their draft...
UNI's Adam Koch was drftaed 3rd behind Iowa's Matt Gatens & Jarryd Cole..
Erid Coleman was drafted 5th and Devan Bawinkle was drafted in the 4th round behind Upper Iowa's Matt Lesan.
Teams are limited as to how many players from the same college team they can have. Games start June 15.

and something for the ISU fans, as I guess boys will be boys...
a few of the Redbirds are off to a great time having fun this summer and are keeping the Bloomington-Normal police busy.
Here's just a few of the guys who have court dates this month or the past couple weeks...nothing major, but definitely continuing a trend of a lot of court activity...
Kellen Thornton - due in court June 8, & July 20

Remember the Jerry Tarkanian quote...
"The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that they'll probably slap another two years' probation on Cleveland State"?

Well here's an article that says that's exactly what the NCAA is thinking in this USC thing....
but it's the USC basketball program that'll get slapped while the football program, although much dirtier, will get off free while nobody's looking...

I believe every court case mentioned involved a basketball player.

Maybe you should take on all the people who sure made a massive big deal out of a couple minor court cases involving Bradley players last year.

like I said I am new here I just dont get what bringing up I screwed Up(ISU) players court cases have to do with basketball..would you post links to cases envoliving bradley players too if you found them?

Any cases remotely associated with Bradley players are always posted here and on dozens of other message boards.
And much more is made of them than is deserved, and the discussion continues for years. Minor and inadvertant issues from 2005 are still being discussed on the ISU board today.

Please, stop trying to flame here, and go back to your own team's board.

much of the legal issues at ISU are NOT discussed on this board but the sheer volume of cases is remarkable, especially when the ISU fans chide us about far lesser misdeeds

DUI'S, improper benefits, violence of any kind etc etc from any schools are serious matters that do deserved to be discussed... Not sure about traffic violations though... especially about players that are no longer at certain schools... JMO though

Who at Bradley has ever had a DUI? Nobody that I can recall.

See what I mean? The stories regarding Bradley athletes continue to be exaggerated far beyond truth and reality.

In fact, the only DUIs I can recall were by ISU players, and the coach tried to sweep them under the rug, and decided to go light on the players, who were never disciplined with any loss of playing time at all.

I was referring to the DUI's at ISU with Dyer and Sampay... thus why I said "ANY SCHOOL"

OK- but I happen to think that any lawbreaking by scholarship athletes is fair game.

We know that if it involved any Bradley athlete it would be (and has been) front page news and be discussed ad nauseum on this and every board.

Hey basketballshadow, ISU is our biggest rival so we love to point out all their warts regardless. It's kind of funny like that! I would probably ask our guys to stop mentioning it if the ISU board moderated itself in kind but we all know that will never happen. So get over it.....
