Potential Bulls Trade?

I just came on here to post the same thing.

Losing Hinrich and Thomas would be significant, but the addition of Boozer would be awesome. The Bulls haven't had a top-calibur big since Elton Brand. The downside would be the loss of Hinrich's perimeter shooting, a skill that Derek Rose hasn't developed as of yet.

Boozer does not come cheap! I'm just not totally sold on him. Sloan runs the perfect O for him so his numbers are solid but take him outside of Utah and I'm just not convinced he deserves that much. He has also been injured lately. I guess I just do not think Boozer is what the Bulls need right now but if they can open up some cap space for next year and have a core group of Boozer, Rose and D Wade now we are talking.

I like Boozer a lot, but I feel he's very injury prone... Would prefer the Bosh angle, but I'm probably dreaming on that.

I would love to see this deal. Anything that gets rid of Tyrus Thomas is fine by me. He bites. Worst singular move (aside from the atrocious Ben Wallace signing) was trading LaMarcus Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas. Pax should have been crucified for that.

I strongly agree. All the Chicago sports talk radio guys continue to talk about Thomas' "potential" but I don't see him pulling a Jermaine O'Neal and suddenly breaking out during his 6th or 7th NBA season. Aldridge would have been a great fit in Chicago.

During that same draft the Bulls selected Rodney Carney (from Memphis) then immediately traded him for Viktor "Who?" Khryapa. Carney had a nice season off the bench last year and is known for being a solid defender, a trait the Bulls have needed off the bench.

I personally 100% disagree. I think Thomas has an amazing high ceiling. And it likely is a higher celing then Boozer could or can ever get too. TT is what 3 years in? and I will guess not 22. I thought he played very well in the playoffs and is developing a decent mid range jumper, he can board, is athletic and is a handful when he decides to play defense.

I do not see the upgrade from TT to Boozer other then Boozer is more experienced but he also has a lot more miles on his legs then does TT.

I think I would prefer to have the Bulls clear cap space... ie Hinrich and get into the 2010 class of free agents.

I agree...I don't know alot about boozer...I sadi boozER:) but TT, to me, is starting to become a good Pro player. Young, fresh....seems to be maturing.

Tyrus Thomas will not be a part of the next Bulls team that makes a run at a championship. At least he shouldn't be. Upside Schmupside. He has the same build now that he had 3 years ago. It's called a weight-room Tyrus. Find it. He hasn't and shows no sign of ever paying the price to realize his 'potential'.

He has the athletic ability sure. But that doesn't mean he can play the game. His shot is inconsistent at best and he shows poor shot selection more often than not. Sometimes they go in and he looks good but it doesn't make it a good shot or a smart play. Even then he usually misses.

He has yet to be trusted on either end of the court (especially defensively) late in games because his basketball IQ is close to non-existant. The only thing he can do defensively is block a shot while helping. His positional defense is poor and he's too weak to be able to consistently defend the post. He tries to block every shot which leads to consistent foul trouble. Don't mistake a couple nice moments against a Celtic team sans Garnett as him starting to come on.

If the proverbial 'light' goes on this season you can point to the fact that he's nearing FA and he's just smart enough to know that he needs to step up if he's going to get paid. In my Bulls world the sooner he's gone, the better the team will be.

But hey........don't let me stop you from being his spokesman. From what I can tell he needs one.

FWIW-I don't love Boozer in any capacity as a player. I just think the Bulls instantly improve when Thomas leaves town. I don't much care what they get in return. Just send him and his underachieving, p-poor attitude out the door.

Tell us how you really feel there Danny :)

All I can say is TT is 3 years in and is 22 years old. I dont know to many 22 year olds who have their "light" turned on after only 3 years in the league. But regardless, you dont like upside or potential. I prefer a guy who has just that at 22 years of age, is incredibly athletic, long, I think has very good defensive instincts, has established an ability to score both from the line 77% and the field 45% and averages 6 boards a game after only 3 years.

If you are expecting Lebron or Kobe numbers after 3 years I then can understand your emotion but I think he will eventually provide double double numbers as his minutes increase. Yes he isnt LaMarcus Aldridge but that is not his fault that is Paxsons.

I just don't see the appeal in this for Utah, especially if they don't end up with Hinrich. I know they want to try and get something for Boozer before he walks as a free agent, but I would think they could do better than Tyrus Thomas. Not to mention, Thomas seems like the kind of player that could drive Sloan to the nuthouse. And as another poster said, I think the Bulls would be just as well off by getting rid of Thomas, let alone getting Boozer in return. The Bulls would be fools to not go through with this, especially if they somehow get Bayless as well.

Here is another interesting twist to this potential deal--
ESPN: Chicago Wants PG Jerryd Bayless Part Of Boozer/Hinrich Trade
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...pg-jerryd-bayless-part-of-boozerhinrich-trade

However, this article from the Chicago Sun Times reports the GM of the Portland Blazers is saying the deal won't happen--
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/basketball/bulls/1661355,bulls-boozer-no-trade-10.article

But other reports suggest the Utah Jazz are desperate to unload Boozer's $12.7 million salary. And Portland just reportedly made a 4-year, $36 million dollar offer to Utah restricted free agent Paul Milsap.
http://www.sltrib.com/jazz/ci_12813394
Utah's top priority was to re-sign Milsap, and that could make Boozer expendable. This drives the price for Milsap much higher than Utah wanted to pay, but the Jazz are still expected to match the offer. That could make the dealing of Boozer even more likely.

This deal would be great for the Bulls, but I don't see why Houston would be interested.

Could be a salarly dump or getting an expired contract perhaps... that seems to be the biggest factor in NBA trades these days... acquiring expiring contracts...

Houston has a whole year to kill, no Mao or Artest probably means lottery selection anyway so why not aim for the top pick while shedding some salary to be able to pick up some free agents next year? The west is fairly stacked top to bottom and if you are not able to field a decent team you may as well try a long-term approach.

Houston would do this because they need to clear some space on their roster and Ariza and Battier essentially do the samething at the same position. I have no clue why they also want to include Landry but he did get shot last year in the leg and he never returned, atleast last season, to who he was before he got shot.

Boozer is about one thing and that is money. He is soft, extremely injury prone and I personally do not think he plays hard nightly. And I have said this previously but he is NOT an upgrade from Thomas. He is just older, with more miles on his legs and less athletic with zero higher ceiling... I know some do not consider a players ceiling but Boozers has been hit and he is playing below that ceiling currently.
