Economic issues are affecting college sports budgets, and it is having a greater effect on men's sports because of Title IX. Unfortunately, as this article points out, men's sports are usually the only ones that produce any revenue, so cutting them may make problems worse.-

WOW those numbers are truly astounding...

Median D-I MEN'S athletic Dept. Revenue produced per year = $22.2 Million
Median D-I WOMEN'S athletic Dept. Revenue produced per yr = $0.86 Million

and then...
there are..."492 more women's programs than men's in Division I, according to the latest data"

yet the lawsuits fly, almost exclusively aimed at universities who are being sued because they don't spend enough or have enough for the women!

Another ESPN article about most schools cutting back on budgets. A few, like Indiana and Kentucky, still "spare no expense in their recruiting efforts."-
