BTW- here is an article about Bill Self's recruiting-

there are some rumblings that the costs and the fuel for those jets that the Big Schools (BCS-boys) use are paid for by the taxpayers....

Most schools hide this stuff because it looks pretty lavish, but it is well known that Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, and other big schools use Lear Jets that cost millions to lease and operate, just to give them a recruiting advantage...but they hide the costs to keep the NCAA from finding out...

Here is an article pointing out that Kansas State's recruiting budget has SOARED to be the 5th highest in the NATION, with costs ballooning by a Million Dollars per year in the past decade..
the use of the jet accounts for "$450,000 and $500,000 this year"..

this kinda puts most other schools at a disadvantage without a Lear Jet...but you gotta wonder just how much has it benefitted Kansas State.
The only basketball success they've had in decades was when they landed Huggins and Beasley, and that had nothing to do with the jet...and their FB team hasn't had a winning record in nearly a decade, since long before they had the jet!!

here's even more on the lavish use of jets and whatever it takes to land the best prospects...

football fans will recall the lavish and irresponsible use of jets for recruiting a few years back that got Rick Neuheisel in trouble, although as would have been easily predicted...the NCAA let them off easy for their violations and gave them the usual that BCS schools get....
..only probation..

here's a story on how Tom Crean's twittering is bordering on recruiting violations...he appears
to be conversing line for line with high level recruits, and he also lists those recruits openly as people he's following....

http://twitter.com/TomCrean/following

Kyrie Irving is a 5-Star that is IU's absolute top priority.

Interesting that Crean only follows 4 people
-Yahoo SportsNBA
-The NBA
-Kevin Eastman (Boston Celtics assistant and father of BU player Jake Eastman)
-and his top recruiting target- Kyrie Irving

Here is Kevin Eastman's twitter page. He tweets that he dropped his son off at college on Monday, but he doesn't mention Bradley by name.

Hoopscoop online posts a very critical blurb about the Irvins and their AAU program...

"We're still trying to figure what's happened to 6'8 Jr Mike Shaw from
Chicago (De La Salle) IL, who had only two points and three rebounds in a
gameand was schooled by many less talented players and 6'5 Jr Wayne
Blackshear from Chicago (Morgan Park) IL, didn't even play in today's games?
Remember, we're talking about two of the top 10-ranked juniors in the
nation. And even worse than the undisciplined and lethargic way the Mac
Irvin Fire has been playing lately is the fact that this was the only team in
the tournament that didn't have a roster in the book. This isn't the Chicago
Public League, where they don't have programs or rosters. It's the premier
NIKE tournament of the entire year and it's kind of hard for your players to
get exposure when nobody can identify them. We asked the organizers why
no roster for the Fire and were told that is business as usal for these guys
they never meet deadlines or submit the paperwork. The only one's the are
hurting are the other player's on the team who need the exposure. "

a couple BU targets had nice games...

Max Bielfeldt, playing with the Peoria Irish at the AAU National Showcase in Orlando, FL had 38 pts. today.

Jordan Threloff's Rising Stars Gold team upset the heavily favored All Ohio Red team, 57-53. Threloff guarded Ohio State commit, Jared Sullinger - rated by some as the top center in the nation, and rated by some as the best player nationaally in Class of 2010.

BTW--
here are a couple of comments from Max Bielfeldt in an interview...
"They've been sending me daily letters," Bielfeldt said of Illinois. "They haven't called me or anything."
"I'd rather play mid-major and get some playing time than go to some big school and not really play at all," Bielfeldt said."
Schools showing interest in Bielfeldt include Wichita State, Missouri State, Albany, Southwest Missouri State, Xavier,
St. Louis and Bradley.
