Hypocrisy at it's FINEST!

Seminoles

Seminoles

BFL---And what if FSU is paying a fee to use the name & symbol---SO WHAT?
They have programs and scholarships for Seminole children and students, etc.
The Seminole tribe benefits and FSU benefits.
As for your worthless opinion, it continues to be based on no actual knowledge, no facts, and 100% emotional speculation----WAY TO GO BFL!

Somebody's become a little worked up on the topic. Let's work on not bashing others, Indian or not, cool?

I don't think anyone here is criticizing Florida State or the Seminoles. If they want to work out an agreement, that's the American way, and I doubt anyone has any problems with that.
I think we can all agree that the problem is with the NCAA and their selective assault on schools to force a politically-correct policy. Obviously the bigger and more powerful a school is, and the more money they bring in for the NCAA, they are willing to turn their heads and allow the use of Indian symbols and imagery like at Florida State, while threatening punitive sanctions on schools like Bradley, North Dakota, and others that they can more easily bully around.

Coach: You are quite correct as usual and I will stop kicking the dead horse. My real concern is with unfounded speculation that denigrates a fine school with which I have some experience and ties.
Obviously, one of the factors in all of this was the lawsuit which the Pres. of FSU threatened against the NCAA and the capability of a large, well funded school like FSU to cause the NCAA some heavy problems. FSU had the capability and willingness to fight it and most other schools did not. In the final analysis, "political correctness, tyranny by the minority, and the NCAAs inconsistancy" really caused this problem to blossom.

It is passion similar to yours that many of us pro-chief U of I fans had during that controversy. Being a good friend of a former chief at U of I, I have seen alot of the behind the scenes events that occur, and the respect and sincerity of those involved. Although I feel chucking a spear into the ground at FSU may be a bit of overkill, I struggle to see many differences between these two schools and traditions. It appears that most of the problems begin to be raised by ignorant liberal thinkers, making decisions and deciding what groups should feel offended, regardless if they actually do.

BU EMT128---You are absolutely correct. The U of I situation is similar to the FSU situation except that U of I didn't have a specific tribe to support and approve their Chief. In many ways, its too bad that U of I caved in and didn't also go after the NCAA as FSU did.

Dude... you are not of the "learn-ed opinion" and you are not recognized as a credible source.... which means your opinions, statements, etc don't mean diddly-squat.

LOL!

You're right Mob. It'$ probably be$t not to $tate $uch a worthle$$ OPINION on a me$$age board where everybody bring$ nothing but 100% factual information each and every time.

$MH.... $MH>>>>>$MH

I think the real issue here is that IF...the use of the name Braves, Indians, or Seminoles is hostile and abusive,
as the NCAA says it is, then why do they allow exceptions in certain caes....why??

Hey-- if it's hostile and abusive then end it everywhere!

would we still allow the use of Chinks just because some group of Chinese who claim to speak for the entire race says it's OK?

It should be banned everywhere if the NCAA is actually going to stick to their guns and rule that it's offensive..

but oddly...in some cases they let it slide....FSU, the Illini, etc...just a few seem to get a break cut for them by the NCAA.
So what's the criteria to let it slide? Is it determined by money...lots of things are, you know....
