IUPUI at Drake

IUPUI at Drake

IUPUI leads Drake in Des Moines 81-80 with 3:29 left.

Watching Drake, it's obvious they are a completely different team than under Tom and Keno Davis. They are almost exclusively a long range shooting team. Even the big men take almost exclusively threes. And on the other end, they play almost nonexistent defense. A bad IUPUI team could score in the 90's.

Final- IUPUI 88 Drake 82

Wow- what a bad loss for the Valley. Drake is young and I think can surprise some teams with their talent and shooting. But this was a game they should have won.
They played terrible defense and made IUPUI look like North Carolina.

BTW- Josh Young did not play due to an injury.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Drake and Evansville will be manning the bottom 2 spots in the Valley. I would guess this is how we'll end up in the Valley...

Creighton
N. Iowa
Bradley
IL State
Indiana State
Southern IL
Wichita State
Missouri State
Evansville
Drake

I like this but move up WSU in front of INSU.

Poor loss by Drake at home with or without Young. Allowing 88 points to IUPUI at the Knapp Center is an embarrassment IMO.

Allowed IUPUI to shoot 67% from the floor (33-49). 3 IUPUI players scored 83 of their 88 points, and Phelps made not a single adjustment.

Newcomers scored 58 of Drake's 82 points. Now, if those new guys would learn how to play defense, things might improve.

Well, we have tomorrow, but all in all a disastrous opening weekend for the MVC. No signature wins, and so far one awful loss. Not good for getting back into the multiple-bid category.
