Recruit last night

Yeah, and Andrew Jordan is going to Ball State...

Thus solidifying part of my point.
Andrew is just a Jr and will not be signibg with anyone till next year. I believe it is very possible to get Stewart, but we would have to offer first. Pretty positive we have not offered as of last month. I think he would look great as a Brave and I thinks its possible.

I hope Donovine Stewart ends up like Jordan Prosser. BU is in early and he blew up after his freshman year. Seems to be dropping nationally and some of the big boys are backing off, much like Prosser. Scout.com now has him as a 2 star prospect. Stewart does not blow you away physically and is not very big, which hurts his stock. Would be a great get for BU. He's been to a ton of BU games in the last couple of years, much like Jordan. Andrew Jordan would be a great get as well.

I have heard that we have not offered. I find that strange. I have a relative that works at his school. He told me a month or two ago that coach Les was there watching practice. I have stood next to him (Stewart) and I was shocked how small he was. He is a player and a very hard worker so I think he would fit great. I still think it is probable he goes somewhere else. I just think it is a possibility that we could get him.

OOPS...on solidifying your point.....Marvin Jordan signed with Ball State not Andrew....at least I think that is the case....maybe they both did???

Here's the official announcement of Marvin Jordan's signing with Ball State, and it does contain one significant error/exaggeration/or whatever you want to call it...

"Jordan..... has led Manual to a 48-16 record in two seasons as a starting point guard.
He led his team to back-to-back conference and sectional championships"

Hmmm...Manual didn't make it out of their Regional in 2007 but was sectional Champ in 2008 - finishing 2nd in State to North Lawndale, but last spring, they lost in their first sectional semi to Princeton and did NOT win the Sectional.
So Marvin Jordan clearly did NOT lead them to consecutive Sectional Championships!

Come on STB you are starting to become obsessive and a bit negative on this forum. I know the feeling, so I can spot it! Step away from your computer and go out and smell some fresh air!

No, I'm just questioning who all these great local kids are....

Paris Gulley is a prime example...was talked up for a couple years about being something of a stud and he ends up at a JC...

Back a few years before, DeAndre Miranda was talked during his Soph. season as the next coming of Marcus Griffin....

Shall I play the "where is he now" game?

Outside of Stewart, I don't recall of any players in the area that could be impact, well, other than maybe Bobo...but he's already set his sights higher as far as I can tell.

Paris Gulley got lots of D-I attention but in the end most D-I coaches felt he didn't have the body, strength, and stamina to play at the D-I level thus he's at juco, but he's doing well, and playing on one of the top jucos in the nation and averaging double digits. He will continue to get D-I attention.

Miranda was a problem with grades, and nobody thought he'd be a strong D-I candidate since he was never a scorer..but he starts at the D-II level.

Lastly, if you don't like the talk of the local kids and the talent from Peoria, then don't buy the newspaper today...
they have a full page of coverage on all the D-I caliber talent in our area..

http://www.scribd.com/doc/22787027/Mid-State-6-Mid-Illini-Other-players-to-watch

..and when compared to other cities of comparable size...Bloomington, Springfield, Rockford, Aurora, etc...
Peoria sends more kids to D-I than those other cities!

The biggest problem you have with recruiting local players is that most of them don't want to stay in peoria, they want to experience the college life of being away from home and with those players you have 0 chance. I wish we would do better getting guys from the Chicago area as the ones we have gotten to play at BU have done very well here.
