Valley Home Attendance

Agreed and was pretty comparable to my post...

You don't wanna be there, FINE!

Stay at home!

I'd rather have 5500 screaming loudmouths than 9k and 3500 ppl there who are either asleep, at the concession stand, or are not even paying attention to anything going on, OR would know whats goin on even if they ARE paying attention...

The Detroit Lions called, they want their fans back.

Once a Brave, Always a Brave doesn't include YOU!

Did you see people being dragged kicking and screaming? I don't think so.

Why does every fan have to have the same level of enthusiasm?...just because we are nuts to post on a sports board(at least that's what my wife says).doesn't mean everyone has to be nuts too

So people don't have the same enthusiam as some on this board...I don't get it it's their right. If they don't want to put on a promo shirt then so what? By the way I have seen the most vocal of fans and huge posters on this board not stand when the fight song is played. Does it make them less of a fan?

No and you're right, this isn't Kindergarten and you shouldn't HAVE to make people participate...

But then what is the point of trying to show a strong fan base and unity if 1/2 the ppl think they're too good to put on a tshirt....

My thoughts...just do it! Its only 2 hours of your life and its a MUCH bigger deal if you don't wear it as opposed to if you do.

The promos are a good cause and should be viewed as such.

Stay for the ENTIRE game, watch the ENTIRE game, and stand up every once in awhile...

You'll be amazed at the difference it makes.

Also, to your last point, I have and will always stand during the fight song, whether they play it a ridiculous 10 times during the game or not...and I'm not entirely against playing it a lot as it seems to be the only thing that gets certain folks to stand.

Finally, I am sick of ppl showing up to the Bradley games not just wearing anything other than red, but wearing Illinois, SIU, etc. gear...

Please, STOP SHOWING UP IN ORANGE AND BLUE!

Who said anything about being nuts?

I mentioned plenty of reasons in my previous post as to why ppl shouldn't come to a game...

If they want to waste their money then so be it, but they're just wasting their time as well if they plan on sleeping at the game or spending 70% of their time at the concession stand while the other 30% is spent standing in my way and obstructing my view coming back and forth to their seats...

Every fan has different levels of enthusiasm but where is the enthusiasm there?

Explain that riddle to me and maybe I'll see your point....

Oh, you can't stop them. Who are you to question their fan-dom. Those are the fans claiming they root for more than one team. My question is... I wonder if they wear a Red Bradley shirt and hat to an Illini game? LOL! 2 teams my arse. They are at the game hoping to see Bradley lose. It's like going to the circus and hoping the trapeze artist falls.

Agreed!

Sometimes I really want to just take a couple of them aside and explain to them that they're in Peoria and how to get back on I-74 and head East towards Champaign.

Thats about as bad as a guy who sat 3 rows behind me last year that wore his SIU shirt to every single Bradley game and then they play SIU and for some reason or another he leaves at halftime

e

Maybe the same person you see has donated huge amounts to BU....

Maybe they don't want to put on a shirt? I try to do the red and white outs but somtimes it doesn't happen either. I've put on the t-shirt sometimes and other times not. I've stood up every time the fight song played(I think)...
There is no riddle here. Just different expectations on how a fan should be.

I root for both.....but I would never wear the blue and orange to a BU game......I'm not hoping to see BU lose....

Where did this thread start anyway?:D

First...I personally don't go before the game is decided. Why others do? I don't know. It's there tickest and there isn't a stipulation when theyhave it. I don't think it's always to be seen either. Why is that obvious? Remember there are huge variances of enthusiasm in any fan base.. Those that leave early aren't on message boards like this but doesn't mean they don't support the Braves.
So people don't have the same enthusiam as some on this board...I don't get it it's their right. If they don't want to put on a promo shirt then so what? Whew, wow wee, great post Lefty. To think anyone would come out in that weather last Sunday just to be seen is ridiculous. Different fans have different ways to support the Braves. So they don't stand, so they don't scream and yell so what. Many of them have been fans longer than a lot of b------s on this board have been alive.

Remember there are huge variances of enthusiasm in any fan base..

Obviously, this is why there were over 4,000 no-shows! THAT just doesn't make sense to me!

Then again, I guess there's no stipulation that you actually have to GO to the game just because you buy the tickets.

It doesn't make sense to me either. But I have seen many people do things that don't make sense. If I can't go I try to make sure someone uses my tickets. ...although I couldn't go at the last minute for Lewis so my seats were empty then:oops:.......

I stand during the introductions, I stand until the opposing team scores, I jump up after an exciting play, I stand with 3 minutes left in each half when the band remembers how to play the fight song. For those fans, no matter what you wear, who want to stand during the entire game you should head down to the student section. There has been plenty of room for you there so far this season.

Another interesting twist to the whole "tickets sold" vs. "butts in the seats" debate......what happens when a team gives tickets away just to put "butts in the seats"? What does that say about the "state of the program"? Just wondering how that fits into the attendance debate. I guess in that case, you would have a higher "butts in the seats" number than you would "tickets sold" since some of the tickets weren't actually "sold".

Here's a new twist on how to boost your attendance and maybe even get some butts in the seats..

Ball State hosts SIUE tonight....and after ISU played them, we kinda know how exciting that game is going to be,
so the Ball State people came up with this idea...to help boost what will surely be a bad attendance...

Here's their promotion for tonight!!
General Admission tickets are available for just one dollar ($1) plus -
that $1 ticket also entitles you to any concession item - popcorn, hot dogs...complimantary -
and -- you can have paid parking for just $1 more...(even the cheap parking spots at the BU games are $5!)

Wow, what a deal....maybe I'll drive over to Muncie tonight!

This whole discussion has to be about relevance. BU basketball is not about a professional sports team where the tickets are so expensive that only the truly die hards can manage to pay for them. BU basketball is about a community like it or not is a bit older that loves the game but do not have the energy to show the passion that some 20 year old whipper snapper has. This all could change 2 ways. First of all the student body would have to take a much greater interest in the program and 2nd a new arena that catered to those older, wealthier, donating and valued fans where they would have a 1st class experience a little further from the floor (some may chose to keep their old seats anyway) so the students could form a ring around the floor. Right now that ring would maybe go 2 deep!

When I went to games I complained about the buzz kill from those older fans but we filled the student section to the brim. When they start filling their section I'll be glad to listen otherwise I'm in the Chico camp.

it would be nice, but you know...I don't care what the others do and what they wear...
I am watching the game & players, so what's the big issue about what everyone else is doing?

You're actually quite close to the type of fan I am, so I have no problem with that whatsoever Chico :)

But I do always make sure to have my Red on....
