Key to the rest of the season

Is it too obvious and simplilstic to say that the singular most important key for BU's tournament hopes this year depend of whether or not Andrew Warren improves? Obviously there are several areas for improvement (e.g. point play, free throw shooting, turnovers, etc.) but without AW being an offensive force, we're kind of in the same boat we were in last year when we all griped and complained about not having a post offense OR a perimeter game.

My thinking exactly. One area where I feel good though is with our PG position. DSE will also be a stud starting next year! How will he not start? CR played some of the best D last night that we have not seen in quite some time. We also need to start stopping and hitting the mid-range. Teams are playing us tight on the perimeter and keeping their bigs in the paint waiting for the penetration. TB will score a ton this year we need someone else to step up.

The only way this team improves is with a complete 180 from the coaching staff...

The head coach is currently clueless...thats all I will say...

Tired of the excuses!

Key and cures to all our ails.......mental toughness...

I posted about finding a team leader - someone who has the will (mental toughness) to push through when things aren't going smoothly. I think we all hoped that AW would be that guy, but it seems like he is still shaking off the rust and looks about a step slower than I remember. I agree with mcd on this one. They lack that element of aggressiveness that they can take a hit and battle through it. Someone who demands the ball to make plays not only for himself but for the team. So far TB appears to be on the verge of taking that role, but they need someone else to step forward too.

I recommend all posters who are negitive about JL's coaching to please post their coaching resume so we can decide whether to put any credence in what they have to say.

I'm not happpy with some things JL does but I have nowhere near the knowledge to judge him.

If you feel Les is the root of all their evils, fine, but the least you could do is elaborate why, and who you would feel would be a better coach out there to replace him.

I for one believe it is much too early in the season to start looking for replacements. As a matter of fact, next year may be the key year to see just how well this team can play as most of his players will be juniors and seniors next year. If this team were to regress next year, then we can have a debate on where to go from there. But I'd wait and see how this season will play out as I think we have the makings of a good team.

Heck, I'd wait to see how tonight's game plays out before we start sending out resumes for a new coach! :D

Whatever.

If you don't have enough knowledge about the game of basketball to offer opinions on how you feel the coaching staff is doing, then so be it.

Those of us that have played the game and do have a clue, we'll go ahead and continue to offer our opinions as to how we think things are going...You don't need a "coaching resume" to be able to distinguish a good system from a bad system.

amen to that but our guys do have the potential to play better

I agree with you...I think this team has a lot of talent...
I am just starting to get concerned that the coaching staff and this system that we run will never get all the potential out of this team.

There is simply too much ability on this team for us to finish 4th or 5th in the Valley yet again.

I agree that you don't need to be a coach to post here about the coach... that's what the forum is for. However, I also think SLB should elaborate, or there is no reason for a forum. :)

I had a different take on last night's game I guess. I thought that the team did a lot of the "coachable" things well. Defense was quite good, passing was good until the last 5 minutes of the game, decision making seemed good. They kept getting open looks and then missing. Last night, to me, was a game where they just didn't shoot that well. So, while after many games I could say I thought the team looked poorly coached, last night I didn't actually feel that way.

I don't always agree with SLB but I think if you look at his past posts he has done a pretty good job of outlining what he does not like about Les' coaching and system. He just didn't choose to re-hash his reasons in this post.

The season has just started. It's a little early for a post like this. I wish we were playing better, but there is a long way to go. I think if AW get's hot and TB keeps going we are real close to having a good season.

I don't know, maybe. Honestly, this looks like a .500 team to me. There just isn't the toughness and ability to consistently score the ball to be competitive at the top of the Valley. Matt Roth woulda real good in a Bradley uni about now.

I didn't intend for this to become a coach bashing thread...just making the point that AW is our most viable offensive threat and he would agree that he needs to play better. We all agree that he needs to score more. If AW and TB start scoring together (TB with his inside/mid-range game and AW with his perimeter shot) this team has a shot to be outstanding.

I didn't say I had no knowledge, what I was really saying was I have no where near as much knowledge as JL.
No one could have coached B.U. any better than JL did tonight!!!!
