Sickening loss for the Bulls!

What you are about to read is not at all made up. This is fact, not fiction:

The Bulls blew a 35 point 3rd quarter lead with 8:50 to go in the 3rd and where outscored 58-19 the rest of the way! They lost 102-98!

A thoroughly gutless, disgusting performance by everyone involved with this team!

I believe James Bond summmed it up perfectly like this:

"Shocking! Positively shocking!"

Was disgusting. Vinny will not last much longer. The Bulls need to make a bunch of noise about a bigtime real-deal sort of coach so that they can work that 2010 FA class.

They ran off that guy who is now in LA winning championships!

They did, but the Bulls had opportunities to get coaches who are sitting around waiting for another chance. Vinny is not a bad coach, but his inexperience shows. I don't know if I can fault him totally for tonight though. How many times can someone yell at a cocky team and tell them the game is not over until the clock says so?

Unfortunately for Vinny, this may be a fireable game for him.

That is completely off base. They didn't run Phil Jackson off. The opportunist jerk left the Bulls after Jordan and Pippen left. If Jerry Krause does not hire Jackson to be an assistant coach, he would be a nobody today. He and his gang turned on the MAN who made him the money and fame he now has. Krause gave him the opportunity to be a head coach and then Jackson turned on him, Jackson is a jerk.

Anybody know if there's anyone out there the bulls could pursue that would allow them to attract top free agents?

No one would have wanted to coach the Bulls after Jordan and Pippen left. The best move Krause ever made was to draft Pippen. There's a reason he's not a GM anymore (and was OUT OF BASKETBALL after the Bulls fired him), and Jackson is one of the best coaches of all time. I think that you are the first Krause apologist I've ever seen. Are you related to him?

I'm not aware of any great coach sitting in the wings. Maybe Rudy Tomjanovich, but I don't think that he wants another job. Maybe Jeff Van Gundy? He's probably the best coach available... If the bulls fire Vinnie (and he realistically is just a place-holder for a better coach), I don't see them bringing in a big-name coach mid-season. They might try to steal one, but the Bulls were pretty cheap when they hired Vinnie. I doubt they will pay for a top-tier coach.

I don't think there's a top coach that is available who would really draw free agents. Maybe if they go after one of the top college coaches, but that doesn't always work out and those guys often don't want ot leave.

I suppose you could go after one of the former coaches who are currently announcers like Doug Colllins or Jeff Van Gundy. Heh, but I'm not sure if those names would exactly excite people to join the Bulls.

The Miami Heat have a young coach too, but he's got Pat Riley behind the scenes to mentor him (along with an experienced assistant coaching staff).

I'm not apologizing for him because I know he did a great job building the Bulls teams that won 6 NBA Championships. And I'm not related to him other than the fact we both went to the same college and I'm kind of loyal that way. Never met him but I like him.

I think the problems started when Jerry traded Jordan's buddy Oakley to get Cartwright which I believe was one of the best trades he made. Then Jordan turned on him and got his loyal minions to follow him. I was sorry to see Pippen take that route. As far as Phil Jackson, if Jerry Krause doesn't hire him, he'd still be a CBA coach and you wouldn't know his name. So yeah, I like Jerry, I won't become a member of a pack and turn on him.

A bit of research confirms that Jeff Van Gundy and Avery Johnson seem like the best name coaches out there. Seems like Avery would be an attractive choice because of his relative youth but I basically have no idea what I'm talking about.

(btw the iPhone kept autocorrecting "Gundy" into "Hindu" so I propose we call him Jeff Van Hindu from now on) :)

Mark Jackson is another possible coaching option- its been known he has wanted to get into it for a while- I wanted him over Del Negro... they both have(had) no coaching experience but Del Negro just "doesnt pass the eye test" as a coach IMO... Not sure if Mark Jackson is the answer either, but I heard that Laurence Frank might be the #1 candidate..terrible- I HATE how the NBA just recycles coaches...

Incidentally I don't think a name coach will help the bulls bring anyone in per se, more like the del Negro experience would discourage anyone from coming. Any reasonably competent coach would seem to make the bulls' money as good as anyone else.

The eye test LOL...How about Van Gundy?

Van Gundy passes the shin-hugging test.

Avery Johnson is not a good coach, which is why he's had one shot and is doing analysis. There just aren't that many great NBA coaches out there right now.

I think that the Bulls should hire JL because it solves two problems. Can we start a rumor that he's next in line for the Bull's head coaching job? He woudn't be any worse than the Tim Floyd hire. The rumor wouldn't be much more ridiculous than the Marquette job.

If you really want to look at how "good" of a GM that Krause is, let's look at his disaster in rebuilding. He hired Tim Floyd to coach the Bulls. He was the first person to give that disaster an NBA job, which lead to another failed NBA head coaching position and a firing from USC. He trade Elton Brand for Curry... Fizer #4 pick... Eddie Robinson as the major free agent addition (stealing $40 mil/5 years).

You could say that he drafted well, but he traded good players away before they developed. Brad Miller and Ron Artest for Jalen Rose... As questionable as some of Paxton's moves have been, I'd still rather have Paxton than Krause. Krause got handed the best player in NBA history, hit on one draft pick, and made one good trade. Clearly he's better then Phil's record tying 10-NBA championships.

I don't think Phil would do well with a young, rebuilding team. Phil, like Riley, really needs a strong veteran team for his coaching style to work.

Also please don't use wikipedia as a source.
