I see all these questions on JL...should he stay, go....

Its pretty clear that he is ok with being 4th or 5th, and then talking about recruits.


This really falls on the Brosk.....

All the way back to the beginning...He hired a guy that was going to be a hero or a goat....

JL has had six weeks of being a hero during a sweet 16 run, 1 good NIT team, and a bunch of junk.

I have seen a lot of posts on the medicrity of the past 20 years..

The mediocrity of Albeck included a NCAA birth and he was horrible, and had a 16 point lead in an NCAA game against Auburn. After recruiting no one, he was jettisoned 3 years too late

Mo's mediocrity included multiple NIT births, an NCAA game where the team didn't perform well, and was one year removed from second place finishes in the league and the tournament.

JL's mediocrity has been nothing but 4th and 5th place finishes...


And back to Broski....The Brosk paid way too much money for a guy who had 6 weeks of success, and now the university is paying, and paying dearly for it.

I can't agree with the money comment. BU got JL cheap compared with the going rate for a successful midmajor coach or a top assistant at BCS-type schools, and they still have him cheap. Even now he is in the middle tier of coaching salaries in the MVC.

I guess that does not say much for Bradley. The thing is I really, really like JL. He says all the right things. However, after 8 years I objectively believe that the program should be seeing better results in the win column. Don't you???

Number two-------You are comparing him to SUCCESSFUL mid-major coaches.

I honestly think JL may be placed firmly on the hot seat at the end of this season if things don't turn around quickly and drastically. However, I also think that would be bad because a similar coach would be much more money, I agree, and I still think JL has some serious potential. Right now my only thing against him is that he seems so stubborn almost. He's unwilling to change his ways or his team style even when it's not working. If he can learn to utilize players a little better according to the player's skills instead of using them to fit into this mold that he has for the team then he could be better. Right now though, he is dead set in his way of placing puzzle pieces into slots they don't quite fit in. He's been trying to put square pegs into round holes for the last couple of years and that is what really gets me....

First 8 years ago the money wasn't what it is now... But, my sources told me at the time that BU did try to underpay JL....

The issue I have was the long extension after the sweet 16.

You extend when you need to...No one was beating down the door for our coach. Why lock yourself in?

I think its safe to say, if JL didn't have money due him at the end of the year, he would be firmly planted on that hot seat.

Now, whether any of us agree with it or not is irrelevant..New Prez and New AD, with old coach with mediocre results = Hot Seat

You are wrong about this srw. JL was a very hot commodity after the Sweet 16 run. He was rumored to be a top candidate at NC State as well as a few other schools. BU saw the potential downfall of losing a hot coach and did not want to risk this. By locking up Les for a relatively cheap $400K it assured BU of continuity in many ways -- fan support, financial support, recruits, etc....

So the question I will throw out there on top of this is will the new Prez and new AD allocate the necessary money to get BU to a higher level? If BU wants to get to a higher level, will this administration look the other way at athletes with questionable academic qualifications for admissions? I watched the Florida State bowl game yesterday and the announcers were very apologetic toward the NCAA's investigation into FSU saying that every school does it! (sarcasm implied here with my last sentence)
